CHAPTER FOUR. Kid.

RAIDEN ROMANO'S POV.

I get to the house , I had planned to go to my own house but decided against it as Emery had told me he wanted to talk about something.

I get out of my car and go inside , going straight to the basement , the house has a big basement that's devided into two rooms , one is to take care of certain business , the other is used as a training room mostly for Em as I'm basically done with training , I have a clear aim and all the other seemingly useless things my family had thaught me.

When I walk into the room however Emery is sitting down on the floor in the middle of the room , playing games on his phone.

I roll my eyes and chuckle , he looks up from his phone as I walk further into the room.

I walk up to him before sitting down infront of him on the floor.

"What's up kid ?" I ask and he glares at me in response , I'm only 3 years older and he hates being called that which is exactly why I do it in the first place.

"I need you to convince Kane to let me go to school." he then says.

I raise my eyebrow "Em you know it's-"

"I just want to be a normal teenager Raiden." he says , eyes pleading.

I look at him and press my lips together in a thin line.

I was aloud to go to school at his age , I was aloud to because I could do what Emery can't.

Emery is home schooled for a reason, for one it's his safety on the line , then there's ofcourse my family's obsession with control but also.. Emery's different and I don't mean that's bad but in this family its not the best situation to be in.

He can't physically defend himself no matter how many times he trains , he's just too.. sweet.

He's the sweetest kid I've ever known , he's caring and quiet , he wouldn't hurt a damn fly and that makes him a problem to the family.

He's not as weak as my family makes him out to be tho , he's intelligent and that means more than everyone seems to think.

My family thinks more about how fast you can kill someone , how good your aim is , they want you to have no fear and to laugh in the face of death.

Emery is none of that , Emery would bring a stray cat home because its raining..

I watch Emery who's still looking at me with those pleading eyes.

"I want to have friends , I want to go to the park , sneak out , have sleepovers , go on a rollorcoaster , cheat on a test , get detention or just.. go to a zoo I.. I want to do something other than being in this basement shooting shit every morning." he tells me.

Great , now I feel bad for him.

I take out my gun and start taking it apart piece by piece "Have you been training ?" I ask while doing so.

"W- yes , ofcourse." he awnsers.

I get up and he watches me with confusion and curiousity writen all over his face.

I leave the room and come back with a bandage , I kneel down infront of him and hold it out to him.

"Blindfold yourself." I tell him.

"Why-"

"Don't ask questions Emery." I tell him , he huffs before he ties the bandage around his head so that it covers his eyes.

I put all the parts of my gun right infront of him.

"Tell you what , if you can put my gun together blindfolded i'll make it happen."

"Make what.."

"School." I tell him and even tho I can't see his eyes I know his face lit up just by the subtle smile that flashes over his face , he nods before he starts picking up pieces , I watch as he carefully identifies every piece and starts putting my gun back together.

Not even two minutes go by before he stands up , my gun in hand , he moves his hand to take off the bandage but I stop him.

"Not yet." I say before putting a single bullet in his other hand.

He gets the message and puts it in.

"If it fires you're done." I tell him and just by his bodylanguage I can see he's going into panick mode.

"But I can't see-" he starts but I cut him off "Em. Breathe." I tell him.

"4 o'clock." I tell him , already knowing exactly where the targets are places all over the walls without looking.

Emery hesitates before he takes aim.

I watch as his aim aligns perfectly with the target.. a clean shot if he keeps the gun steady.

Emery turns his head away from the target before hesitantly pulling the trigger , as the sound echos through the room I watch him flinch at the sound before I glance at the target.

A perfect shot.

I smile , I'm proud of this kid.

Emery takes off the blindfold and looks at me before looking at the target "Holy shit- Raiden did you see that ? I hit it !" 

He's excited , we both know it's not because he hit the target but rather about my promise.

"Well done kid." his head snaps to me and he punches my shoulder at the name but there's no real force behind it.

I grin before ruffling his hair " Alright I think I need to go talk to the grumpy old man." I tell him and he chuckles " Damn right you do." he grins.

"He's not a moron Kane , he knows the risks." I tell my dad.

"I've made up my mind."

"He's just a kid , give him a fucking break for once." I roll my eyes , god he's so infuriating.

"It is not happening Raiden." my dad's voice booms through his office.

I feel my jaw tighten in response 

"He's going." I tell him , glaring at him and he returns the favour with cold eyes.

"Oh you want to make calls around here now huh ?" he grits out , standing up from his chair behind his desk.

I cock my head to the side in challenge.

"Get your shit together Raiden for god's sake , don't think I haven't noticed that Rautha kid is still breathing." he says.

"Wren's not your problem and neither is Emery." 

His glare hardens "Oh what , you're finally making some friends , son ?"

I pull out my gun and aim it at him before I can catch myself.

He only laughs in response "Hit a nerve ?" he mocks.

I grit my teeth together before regaining my composure "Wren is my problem." I say , lowering my gun.

"And Emery is going to school." I tell him.

"Is he hm ?"

"he is , whether you approve or not, 'dad'." I say and his jaw ticks in anger at the name.

I turn around and leave his office when he doesn't argue any further.
