I stared at the tattoo on my chest, and knew it was about time. The knowing eye stared back at me with a particular urgency that willed me to hasten my actions. And that was what I was planning to do.
I took in a deep breath and released it while crashing my lids together. Then I zoned out of reality, something I'd subsequently become an expert at. Except this time, I wasn't creating my own visions.
Instead, I was tapping into another one of my powers. The power of telepathy; a useful way to communicate with my people. My eyes rolled back, into my skull. But because I'd never focused so hard before, it came with a migraine. The pain erupting from the sides of my head, like my skull was being crushed by two heavy metal on either sides of my head.
I dug deep and concentrated even deeper. I scrambled and searched for my powers, because I was well aware that it was lost somewhere in me, and needed to be found before being used. Concentration was a must, and determination was the key.
And I must have been very determined. Because before long, I felt my body heat up. The same way it felt whenever my body released so much radiation, it made my skin glow.
I felt my skin light up in an ethereal glow, my radiant hair floating mid air, as if I was stuck between space and time. The burn on my skin intensified as I travelled deeper, yet somehow I couldn't feel the sting. It was as if I was on fire, but I wasn't being burnt.
I felt my eyes open, all so suddenly. It was then I knew, I'd lost all control of my body. I wasn't the one in charge anymore. My Visionari had taken over, and it seemed she wasn't in the mood to play. Her passion was so strong, I felt it too wherever I was, deep inside her.
"To anyone who is listening," I heard her say, her featherlight voices echoing through my brain. "This is your Chronokeeper calling for an assembly. It is time for the rise of the Visionari. To all who are brave enough to face their enemies, to all who are brave enough to look death in the eye, this is your time to shine.
"I'm calling on both the old and the young. Both the strong and the feeble. Both the fat and the small. Whoever you are, wherever you are, it is time we rise and take what was always ours. It is time we slaughtered our enemies and dined with their heads as our victory.
"To all who cares and are listening, meet me at Ravenhurst way this weekend by midnight. Don't forget to come alone. But bring your guard with you. You're going to need it."
Suddenly, as if a chunk of heavy metal had been thrown off a skyscraper, I began to fall. With so much speed, I lost control of myself. I fell with so much intensity, that it almost hurt when I became myself again. When I gained control of my body and movements again.
I crashed with so much force, I landed on my bed when I zoned into reality again. The fluffy bed linens and feathery pillow were so appealing to my migraine that gradually heightened with each minute. But I knew my job was far from over.
I was only beginning.
My body moved in sync with the blood that pumped through my veins as I grabbed a coat. My speeding mind graciously submitted as I thought my actions through.
I was still feeling my mind reeling on my actions when I hailed a cab and directed him to Ravenhurst. My mind still zoomed with incoming thoughts as I paid the openly confused cabdriver. And my mind was still racing when I walked through the forest.
It was a cloudy day today, and relatively very cold. The air was stiff and dry, with the sun hidden between thick layers of grey clouds. It was as if, even the atmosphere had sensed my intentions and had contributed to offer me the perfect mood for my plan.
The vines and thorns cracked and crunched under my feet, as I walked through the woods. This wasn't the same route I'd previously taken, because I wasn't with someone reliable this time. I knew I couldn't trust the cabdriver that brought me here, so I directed him to the woods, a neighbor to the warehouse I was visiting.
Better be smart than sorry.
As I approached the warehouse, an unexpected smirk snaked its way to my face. Looks like I was more excited about this than I thought.
I entered the building, adjusting my eyes to the darkness of the space, which was quite puzzling, since it was day. My footsteps echoed as I walked into the familiar room, though my breath and heart race weren't as erratic as I'd thought they'd be.
Apparently I wasn't scared of what I had to do.
The dangling bulb hanging from the ceiling was the first thing to catch my attention when I entered the room. Next was Ava's figure still sitting on the wooden chair. She had her head craned, so far deep that it was almost resting on her shoulder. She was asleep.
The table from I and Ethan's ' date ' was still available, with our barely touched dinner still in place. But that was the last thing on my mind.
I walked in front of Ava, and like I had guessed, she was asleep. Her eyes were swollen while closed, with just the lightest shades of bags forming under eyes. Her makeup had been smudged, but not too much, giving me the idea that she had sweated a bit while alone in this room.
Her dirty blonde hair was now crispy and dried, standing on its end from the humidity in the room. But what caught my attention was her mascara still in place. She hadn't cried at all, from being stuck here for almost a day. Without food, water, or any other source of life, so to speak.
This girl must be stronger than I'd insinuated. Looks like I had to always look over my shoulder with this one.
"Ava," I heard a demanding voice speak, and recognized it as mine. My recipient jerked her eyes open, taking in her surroundings like she'd just been woken up from a terrifying nightmare.
Without waiting for her to speak, or even recognize me in the first place, I dragged the abandoned chair closer to her and leaned in on my elbows. "It's time we had a little chat," I said.
