Chapter Seven: Are any of us sane?

"Let's go Bob" Jason said as he put his arms around Bob's shoulders to help him up. "The sound, Jason... The sound..." Jason looked even more shocked. Even after all these years he had never seen such brutality. "We have to go and I'm not leaving you here, look.. look at you".

Maybe it was the fact that his daughter had just been murdered right before his eyes.. maybe it's because the life he knew before was gone and the life he lived now just wasn't meant for him. He punched Jason in the face, causing a tooth to fly out before diving onto Jay and trying to bite his ear off. Grabbing for his weapon Jason saw Jay trying to grab his axed and yelled "NO"!! Diving onto Bob and throwing him at a wall knocking him unconscious.

"You were gonna kill him"?! Jason asked angrily. "No dude, I thought I might let him kill me first, the fuck else was I gonna do"? Looking over at Bob on the floor Jason looked back at Jay and said "I saw a van outside, those are probably the keys on that table. Help me get him out so we can go". Jay looked at him confused and said "You're really gonna bring him after what he just did". Pissing Jason off even more he replied "Fine motherfucker you stay here, but he's coming with me".

Not wanting to be alone again Jay hesitated, before helping Jason pick Bob up and carry him to the van. Outside they put him in the back seat and bound his hands with a cut up strap of seat belt. Getting into the driver seat, Jay in the passenger Jason looks at him and says "You don't know him Jay, look at what he just went through.. are any of us gonna be sane after that? He'll bounce back" Jay was silent for a moment before asking"Are any of us sane now"?

Pulling away in the dingy beat up van, one of the only running vehicles they've both seen in years another car comes pulling up in front of them. Blocking the exit, two men step out of the old beat up car. "You boys get the fuck out of the car right now, don't make me ask again". Looking at each other Jay and Jason step out with their hands raised straight above their head.

"The fuck you think you're going huh"? Malic asked looking both of them back and forth and forth and back again. "This van wasn't left for you, where the fuck is Bob huh? Y'all kill him? Do our job for us"? He asked sharply hand on his pistol. "No" Jason replied coldly.

"We're not savage cunts like you" He said. Before Malic or the other guy had time to say anything a loud noise ripped through the sky like a skyscraper colliding with the earth. A solar flare storm had just started, causing Malics van to explode sending him flying back and killing the other instantly.

Without hesitation Jason went for his weapon but it was gone. Looking back up he sees Bob approaching Malic with his weapon. Shooting him in the kneecap Malic screams and Bob drops the weapon. Getting on top of Malic, Bob puts his knee in Malics chest, grabs his arm and snaps it back in forth before completely ripping it off.

He then takes the arm, forms to pointy fingers and gouges Malics eyes with his own hand. Screaming in agony, Bob wants finished. He takes a near by rebar and beats Malic in the esophagus, Malic brutally cough up frothy blood. Bob finishes by taking Malics head and pulling it up towards him until it dislocates his spinal column. Afterwards Bob drops to the ground. Silent.

Jay and Jason grab Bob and not trusting the solar flare with the van make their way to a nearby abandoned building to bunker down for the night and wait out the storm.

"Shit" Jason says in a worried and tried tone.. "Lex is gonna be so worried"... He says. "Who"? Jay replies.

Back at home Lexus is growing more and more worried. The storm is getting louder, and it's getting pitch black outside. She knows what's coming... An entire year of absolute darkness and she's praying her husband is alive and well.. she can't endure the darkness alone.

Thinking of going after him but changing her mind she sits down and begins to think, she thinks about the past and what it was like. Wondering what Jason was like before it all... Wondering if she'd see him again...
