"...ohh... so it took this kind of development..."

Fifteen minutes after I was confined in the room, I was currently lying down on the bed.

With nothing else to do, I thought of falling asleep in the game and having Muriel watch and wake me up in case something happened. But I decided to fiddle with the FIS-HE and some of the game settings instead.

And surprisingly, I found out that I was able to browse the internet from FIS-HE's pre-installed browser. Not only that, but I also found that I could control my phone from within the game as long as it was connected to my FIS-HE directly. This allowed me to spend my time idly by enjoying my... backlog of entertainment mangas and animes side by side.

"...ohhhh!!"

...though, the one who was currently watching the anime was Muriel, who seemed to be infatuated with magic girl (mahou shoujo) genres, for some reason. As for me, I ended up reading my backlog consisting of over 15 titles that I had bookmarked.

I heard from others that using FIS-HE allowed the user to enjoy multitudes of seamless virtual experiences, but I definitely did not expect I would be able to do something like this while still logged into a Virtual Reality game.

"...by the way..."

"Hmm?"

"Are you... seriously not going to change your mind?"

I decided not to say anything and continued scrolling my window to read my manga.

But just as I finished the current title and was about to move to the next one, someone suddenly busted the door open and came into the room rudely.

[Proteus Guard – Arte]

[Level 33]

"What's going on!?"

The sudden shout from Rock made Muriel flinch and hide behind my body. Her reaction made me heave a sigh and slowly raised my body up from the bed.

From how tense they looked before they glanced at me at the same time, it was obvious that something new had happened, as I had predicted.

"...more people are missing."

"What do you mean!?"

"Five more children had disappeared." The guard who barged in rudely, who seemed to be named Arte, tried to rein in his anger as he spat out those words. "Two of them had not returned from last night, while the other three had gone out from their houses to play together in the park before they suddenly disappeared."

"...are their parents still searching for them?"

Arte could be seen gnashing his teeth before shaking his head.

"The parents of the children missing this morning are. But for the ones who had not returned from last night..."

"Those unbridled f..."

I thought Rock was going to smash his hand against the wall, but he surprisingly turned around to grab the spear he leaned against the wall...

"You bastard... you know something about this, don't you!?"

...and not so surprisingly, directed the sharp end of that spear in my direction.

"...I have already told you my answer, but you guys don't seem to hear what I had said."

"I don't want to hear your roundabout answers, you filthy Adventurer! I want a clear answer."

"Hah..."
