Victoria G: What inspired you to become a singer?

Sophie Taylor: Music has just always been something I've loved to do. I really can't see myself doing anything else. I enjoy making music and it's very fun to me.

VG: What is your favorite thing about singing?

ST: My favorite thing about singing is getting to meet other people when I do it. When I went to Nashville I met so many amazing musicians and it's just a very cool experience. When I sing at local churches I get to meet some awesome people in the community and that's what I love about it.

VG: Who are your musical inspirations?

ST: My musical inspirations are Taylor Swift, Megan Moroney, and Jason Isbell. These are my inspirations specifically for songwriting. I love how Taylor Swift takes a metaphysical approach to her writing, I think Megan Moroney's style of writing is just really creative and unique and it's something I draw a lot of inspiration from, and Jason Isbell is just a great storyteller.

VG: What is your songwriting process?

ST: Usually when it comes to writing a song, inspiration hits me at the most random times. For example, when I wrote "Call Me Yours" I was on a 14 hour car trip to Rhode Island and that idea randomly popped in my head. I was able to write the whole chorus right then and there, and when I got home I was able to build the song around that.

VG: What messages are important for you to express through your music?

ST: I just hope through my music, people can feel my love for Jesus, and my love for making music.

VG: Do you play any instruments?

ST: Yes, I play guitar. I've been playing guitar since I was 8.

VG: How would you describe yourself in three words?

ST: I would describe myself as artistic, compassionate, and determined.

VG: Do you have any hidden talents?

ST: I wish I could say I had some super interesting hidden talent, but unfortunately I do not.

VG: Where do you see yourself in ten years?

ST: In ten years, I just hope to still be making music. Music is what I love to do and if I could just continue to be able to do this for as long as possible I'd be happy.

VG: What are your social media handles?

ST: Instagram: @sophietaylormusic1 Facebook: Sophie Taylor Music YouTube: Sophie Taylor Music

VG: What advice do you have for an aspiring singer?

ST: The advice I have for an aspiring singer is to keep working for it, don't give up. Play at as many places as you can, and be yourself on stage. If you seem like you're having fun, everyone watching you will be having fun too.

VG: What advice do you have for an aspiring songwriter?

ST: My advice for an aspiring songwriter is always be looking for inspiration. Rather that be in your own emotions, random quotes on the internet, other songs, things other people say, etc. inspiration can come from places you'd never expect, so you always have to be on the lookout. Another thing I will say is that sometimes you'll go through periods where you just can't come up with anything, and that can be really stressful, but just remember that's something that will pass.

VG: What's next for you?

ST: I have some upcoming events, and I have a song in the works that I hope to put out soon. I also will be making a TikTok page for my music in the near future so be on the lookout for that!

VG: RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS What's your favorite genre of music?

ST: My favorite music genre is country.

VG: What is your favorite pastime?

ST: My favorite pastime is songwriting.

VG: Who's your favorite superhero?

ST: My favorite superhero is Wonder Woman.

VG: What's your favorite candy?

ST: My favorite candy is M&M'S.

VG: What's your favorite movie?

ST: My favorite movie is Steel Magnolias.

VG: What is your biggest fear?

ST: My biggest fear is heights, I'm terrified of heights. Which is ironic because I'm 5'9.

VG: Do you have any pets?

ST: Yes, 2 dogs and 1 cat.
