Part 19
The bowl slipped from Lee Know's fingers in slow motion, shattering against the kitchen tiles with a sound like fractured ice. He stood frozen, staring at the porcelain shards scattered across the floor—a perfect mirror of his scattered thoughts
Mr. Suho's footsteps hurried in before the echo faded.
"LeeKnow," he said, voice thick with concern rather than anger. "Are you okay?"
Lee Know's hands trembled as he knelt. "I'm sorry! I'm—I'm really sorry, Uncle Suho!" The apology spilled out like a plea, as if the broken bowl were just the surface of something far more fragile
Suho crouched beside him, ignoring the debris "The bowl doesn't matter"
Lee Know's forced smile wavered. "Y-Yes, of course. It won't happen again—"
"Aish, this kid." Suho sighed "You think I care about a dish? I'm talking about you , take care of yourself"
Leeknow's mile this time was real, if fleeting. "...Thank you."
As Suho left, the kitchen's fluorescent lights hummed overhead. Lee Know knelt again, gathering sharp fragments with bare hands
Hyunjin descended the stairs , eyes fixed on the front door, fingers already brushing the handle when—
"Sam."
His father's voice froze him mid-step. The old name hung in the air like a guillotine bladeHyunjin's chest rose with a shuddering breath before he turned. "What?" He bit out each word. "You want to provoke me with that name now?"
Mr. Hwang didn't rise from his armchair. "Starting tomorrow, Yuna attends your school." Ice clinked in his untouched whiskey glass.
"Why?" Hyunjin's laugh was razor-sharp. "Afraid I'll embarrass you again?"
Movement stirred in the hallway. Yuna unfolded herself from the couch, heels clicking on marble as she stepped into Hyunjin's space. Her perfume—something floral and poisonous—filled the air between them.
"This was your doing, Mr. Sam." Her manicured finger tapped his chest. "Got me and Ni-Ki expelled yesterday. All because you couldn't keep your mouth shut."
But Ni-Ki had asked his father to transfer to another school, and Mr. Hwang agreed
Lee Know and Yeji stepped out of the school library, arms stacked with books. The afternoon sun streamed through the hallway windows as Lee Know nudged Yeji gently.
"Go ahead to class," he said. "I'll catch up—"
A sudden jerk—Yeji's legs tangled as she crashed to the floor, books scattering. Her palms scraped against the linoleum.
"Are you CRAZY?" Yeji shouted, glaring up.
Hyunjin leaned against the lockers, sliding his hands into his pockets. "Didn't see you," he said, voice dripping with indifference.
"Liar!" Yeji seethed, scrambling up. "You stuck your foot out on purpose!"
Lee Know's books hit the ground with a slam . In three strides, he was in Hyunjin's face.
"You dare mess with my friend?"
**CRACK.**
The slap echoed. Hyunjin stumbled back, nose bleeding. He wiped the blood with his sleeve, eyes darkening—
**Then lunged.**
Fists flew. Yuna arrived, frozen in shock as the two boys grappled. Yeji screamed for them to stop, but the brawl only ended when two teachers barreled in, wrenching them apart.
