Anueng woke up in Nueng's bed, wrapped snugly in her lover's arms. It was a position she had found herself in countless times before, but today felt different. Today, she was about to graduate from university and finally embrace the full freedom she had yearned for—no more parental or grandmotherly dictates to hold her back.
She turned slightly to gaze at Nueng, who was still asleep, her face peaceful and serene. Anueng couldn't resist the urge to reach out and gently trace Nueng's features with her finger, marveling at the softness of her skin, the delicate arch of her eyebrows, and the way her lips curved into a faint smile even in sleep.
Nueng stirred, her eyes remaining closed but a sleepy grin spreading across her face. "Are you watching me sleep again?" she murmured, her voice husky with sleep.
Anueng blushed, caught in the act. "Maybe," she replied softly. "It's hard not to when you're so beautiful."
Nueng's eyes fluttered open, revealing the warm, affectionate gaze that Anueng adored. "You always say the sweetest things in the morning," she said, her voice teasing but full of love. "But I think you're the one who's truly beautiful."
Anueng leaned in, brushing a kiss against Nueng's lips. "I could watch you sleep forever," she whispered. "But today is special."
Nueng's eyes widened as she fully woke up, realization dawning on her. "That's right! Today is your graduation day!" She pulled Anueng into a tighter embrace, her voice brimming with excitement. "How are you feeling? Nervous? Excited?"
Anueng rested her head on Nueng's shoulder, taking a deep breath. "A little bit of both," she admitted. "It's strange, you know? I've been looking forward to this day for so long, and now that it's here, I can't believe it's real."
Nueng stroked Anueng's hair gently, offering comfort. "You're going to be amazing, Anueng. You've worked so hard for this moment, and now it's your time to shine. And remember, no matter what happens today, I'll be right there beside you."
Anueng smiled, feeling a surge of warmth and confidence. "Thank you, Ar-Nueng. You've always been my rock."
They lay there for a few more moments, savoring the quiet intimacy of the morning. Finally, Nueng broke the silence. "We should probably get up and get ready. You don't want to be late for your own graduation."
Anueng nodded, reluctantly pulling away from Nueng's embrace. "You're right. But first, I need another kiss for good luck."
Nueng laughed softly, obliging with a tender kiss. "Good luck, my love."
Anueng stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the folds of her graduation gown while Nueng watched from the couch, a proud smile on her face. The room was filled with an air of anticipation and excitement, the morning sunlight filtering through the curtains.
"You look stunning, Anueng," Nueng said softly, standing up and walking over to her.
Anueng turned to her with a shy smile. "Thank you, Ar-Nueng." She took a deep breath, feeling a mix of nerves and exhilaration. "Can you believe it's finally here? Graduation day."
Nueng reached out, gently taking Anueng's hands in hers. "I'm so proud of you," she murmured, her eyes filled with admiration. "You've worked so hard for this moment."
Anueng leaned closer, resting her hands lightly on Nueng's shoulders. "Thank you for being here with me, through it all."
Nueng smiled warmly, brushing a strand of hair away from Anueng's face. "Always."
Anueng glanced at the small coffee table nearby where her camera sat. "Hey, let's take a picture before we head out. Just the two of us."
Nueng nodded, a hint of excitement in her eyes. "Sure, that sounds perfect."
