For the past two years, Max and I carried on our tradition of betting something during the Monaco Grand Prix.

On our first anniversary, he bet that he could once again win and if he did, I would have to move in with him. Not that I wasn't always at his place already.

He won and two weeks later, I moved in.

On our second anniversary, he bet that he could end up on the podium and if he did, I would have to marry him. Surprising everyone, he won once again and we got married two months later, in Monaco obviously.

Unfortunately, for our third anniversary this year, the bet could not take place. Max had a big crash a month before while racing in China and broke his arms in multiple ways. So he was out for Monaco.

But I still bet him that his teammate could go on the podium. He wanted to know what was at stake here but I told him it was a surprise for after the race if I won.

The journalists knew about our bets and asked him what was the bet this year. Max kept saying that he had no idea what he bet on and journalists were making wild guesses. Actually, a lot of them were right about it but I never even flinched so I wouldn't give the answer away.

As I predicted, his teammate went for the win, even though he started at the back of the grid, thanks to an amazing pit stop strategy and some luck with the rain

As I predicted, his teammate went for the win, even though he started at the back of the grid, thanks to an amazing pit stop strategy and some luck with the rain. After celebrating it with the team, Max turned to me and asked me what he won, while we were on our way out of the paddock.

"Well, you won a son," I said, feeling suddenly really nervous.

"A... a son? You're pregnant," he asked.

I nodded, chewing my lips with anxiety. I mean, we knew this could happen. We both were at a place in our lives where we wanted kids and decided to let nature take its course. But he probably didn't expect it to be so soon.

Maybe it was too soon for him?

Yet, he surprised me by grabbing both of my cheeks and kissing me quickly, after telling me how happy he was. Several journalists picked up the moment of happiness and asked what we were celebrating.

Max told them that we both had won the bet and that our prize was a son. All of them congratulated us and some even cut the cameras before asking me how I was feeling.

We left the paddock and went home. As Max was getting ready for the party that would happen later on, I stood on the balcony, taking the scenery in. Max came behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, "what are you thinking about?"

I smiled and said, "about how Monaco has become the place where all my dreams came true. Going to a F1 race, meeting you, falling in love with you, marrying you and now carrying our child. I love it here. And I love you."

He brought me closer to his chest and whispered in my ear, "I love you too baby."
