~In the city of Yoshiwara, around the time of the Hashira training Arc.
After the events of the Entertainment District, which left the city of Yoshiwara in shambles. The city was now filled with the sounds of hammers banging, craftsmen barking orders to their employees, and wagons pulling wooden planks up and down the "makeshift street," which was just a bunch of boards. All were united in their singular goal to make the Entertainment District better than it ever was.
Avoiding these horse-drawn carriages was a particular individual wearing a green and white haori, carrying seven wooden logs on her shoulders with ease, followed by a group of elementary school girls.
"Wow, Ms. Daichi Kaname! You are so strong!" one of the girls shouted, stars in her eyes. The Earth-breathing demon slayer turned and offered a warm smile before continuing on her path, the kids trailing behind.
It's really nice that Mr. Uzui is paying for our city! He must have a lot of money!" another girl said excitedly, jumping up and down. "He said he's building a pool for my house too! I can't wait!"
"Mr. Uzui told me he will buy me a pony!" another girl shouted, and the others gasped in awe.
"Well, Mr. Uzui said he's going to buy me presents for Christmas!"
"Are you sure that wasn't just your parents?" one of the girls asked, and the others laughed.
Daichi smiled softly before halting, her attention drawn to a building where an argument was taking place on the roof. A man wearing a black haori with gold highlights was scolding a granny who had a hammer in hand.
"No, Granny! How many times do I have to tell you, lefty tighty, righty loosey! Not the other way around! Now we've lost twenty screws! Do you know how much I had to bargain with the construction manager to even let me use his toolbox?!"
The granny scratched her head for a moment. "Wait... where is the toolbox?"
The granny shrugged before answering, "I sold it."
"FOR WHAT?!"
"For a sword," the granny replied, pulling out a comically large sword from nowhere.
The duo stared at each other for a moment before the man inhaled deeply and exhaled.
"WHAT?! YOU ARE LITERALLY ONE DAY AWAY FROM BEING IN A BOX, GRANDMA! WHY THE HELL DID YOU BUY A SWORD?! WHAT WILL YOU EVEN USE IT FOR?!" he shouted, expecting an answer.
"For knitting. They didn't have any knitting kits at the store."
"WHAT?! SO YOU SOLD A TOOLBOX THAT DIDN'T EVEN BELONG TO ME TO BUY A SWORD, NOT EVEN USING IT FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE! AND KNITTING! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO KNIT WITH SUCH A LARGE SWORD?! A GIANT'S SWEATER?! AND FOR WHO?! GOD DAMN IT, WOMAN!"
The kids looked at one another before turning to Daichi, who gave a defeated sigh. "Kids, promise me that when you grow up, you don't become like him."
"But who is he?" one of the kids asked.
Daichi smiled. "He calls himself the next Flame Hashira...Kaji Ryouma."
A crow circled the city, emitting a loud screech. Daichi and the Demon Slayer on the roof both looked up at the circling crow.
"CAW! CAW! Emergency summon to the Ubuyashiki Mansion! CAW! CAW! EMERGENCY SUMMON TO THE UBUYASHIKI MANSION! CAW! CAW! EMERGENCY SUMMON TO THE UBUYASHIKI MANSION!"
Daichi put down the logs before patting each of the kids on their heads as she walked off. Kaji smiled as he gave the granny a hammer before jumping off, tying a bandana on his forehead.
"Yes! We finally have a mission!"
