"We're here" she said as she struggled with a few of my bags
"You don't have to do all of this" I said feeling guilty
"It's okay. I'm lonely anyway" she chuckled
"I'm just kidding, I just want to help you. If I were you I wouldn't want to be alone" she said with a warming smile.
I returned the smile and gathered the rest of my things brining them inside and into the guest room.
"You can stay till you get back on your feet, but I don't really mind" Carolyn said placing my things beside the bed.
"Thanks" I said softly.
I looked out the window realizing that the sun was already starting to rise. Hundreds of memories of me and Tyson flooded my mind as I looked out the window. I looked away and wiped the tears away. I decided to freshen up and went into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror. HOLY SHIT. I looked horrible. Black mascara streaming down my face. The tears washed the makeup off my cheeks and my bruise was the most noticeable. It was worse than having a pimple the size of a planet on my forehead. I looked like I escaped an apocalypse. No wonder Tyson didn't love me anymore. I was never good enough... I never will be. I'm worthless. I'm useless. NO. STOP. I distracted myself from having those thoughts again. I can't get bad again. NO. It won't happen. Tyson didn't deserve you. He's the problem. I repeated this over and over to myself.
I walked out of the bathroom looking pretty okay for a heartbroken girl who just wanted to spend the rest of the year sobbing in bed while eating ice cream and watching something on Netflix, but I knew I had to get out. I need to start new and forget about the previous chapter in my life.
"Damn girl! You look good considering... Well.. yea know" Carolyn exclaimed and soon became lost for words.
"Yea... Well.. This is how'll welcome the new chapter of my life" I responded.
Carolyn placed two plates of eggs and bacon. She also placed two cups of freshly brewed coffee for the both of us. We ate as she kept asking me questions about what I planned on doing. I told her I planned on finding a new job since I no longer can depend on Tyson. And after that I didn't know. I already have my Bachelors degree so I hope there are jobs that will take me. I thanked Carolyn for the breakfast and offered to wash the dishes, but she refused to let me touch a single dirty plate.
"You need to relax and let loose okay? Don't worry so much. You'll get over this, but just relax and get yourself out there" Carolyn said basically rushing me out the door.
I guess it is for my own good, but I still had second thoughts. I walked through the town. Trust me I'm still in pain. I may not show it but I'm hurting a lot inside. My heart aches and it feels as though every time I breathe it hurts. My chest feels tight and I just want to break down and cry it all out. But on the outside I'm smiling as though it were a perfectly sunny day and everything was going smoothly. This was going to be hard honestly. Everywhere I looked, I saw Tyson. Not him but it was a memory. I walked past the ice cream place on the corner and remembered when Tyson put ice cream on my nose and licked it off. I returned the favor and an ice cream throwing war broke out between the both of us. Eventually we both got kicked out and we laughed our asses off as soon as we stepped out. I looked across the street and saw the park. I remember when I really wanted to learn how to roller skate so Tyson let me borrow his roller skates which were huge compared to my usual size. He held my hand the entire time and smiled at me sweetly and patiently every time I almost fell. I was so lost in thought that I hadn't realized I bumped into some guy spilling coffee all over my white shirt.
"Watch where you're going lady!" The guy said in annoyance
"Sorry.... I wasn't looking" I apologized shyly looking up at him as I helped him clean up the mess
"It's fine. You're lucky you're very pretty though" he smirked at me helping me up.
"Nice to meet you.... " I said clearing my throat trying to change the subject or whatever.
"Ethan. My name's Ethan" he continued
"Hi Ethan, I'm Anelle, but you can just call me Elle" I responded smiling
"Thanks for cleaning the mess up Elle" he thanked me returning the smile
"Yea.. Well it was my fault after all. How bout I buy you some coffee?"
"You asking me out on a date already? You work fast Elle" he said cheekily
"No silly. It's just to replace the coffee that's now on my shirt" I blushed
"Oh yea about that, lemme buy you a new one" he said apologetically
"Sure" I said
We headed off to a small coffee place down the street and ordered five large coffees. Three to replace the ones I ruined and two for the both us.
"So Ethan, where you headed with all of this coffee?"
"Oh well I'm an intern for this record label. In other words I'm their slave till I can raise enough money I need for my dream"
"Your dream?" I asked curiously
"I want to create. I want to create something one day. I'm not sure what though" he said. I noticed some sort of sparkle in his eyes.
I caught myself smiling from looking into his eyes and just looked down shyly.
"So about this internship. Are there any open spots that a certain someone could possibly fill in" I asked clearing my throat
"Well if this certain someone is you then yes. But you would have be recommended or something. Whatever the hell that means. Oh well" he shrugged
"Oh" I said simply
"Nah I'm just kidding. Of course I'm going to recommend you" he exclaimed
"Thank you so much!" I said feeling an instant urge to hug him.
"No problem" he said giving my a warm smile
"Anyway, I'll have the paperwork for you tomorrow. Just meet me at that coffee place, okay?"
"Okay and sorry about the coffee"
"Don't worry besides if you were looking at where you were going then we wouldn't have bumped into each other and I wouldn't have been able to meet you" he said cheekily
I blushed right when he said that. I made my way home and as I closed the door me behind me, I noticed Carolyn had a slightly worried look on her face as she stared at the home phone which was placed on the counter.
"What happened?"
"It's Tyson."
