"Hey, Fin, I'll take her home," Chance offered. Fin glanced at me, and I hurried to her, urging her to stay awake as I promised to call once I reached home. It hit me - I had just experienced my first kiss, and hell I needed to tell somebody about it. After a hug, we parted ways, each heading in a different direction.
Chance guided me to a 4-car garage, gesturing towards a sleek all-black BMW X. Opening the car door for me, I settled in comfortably. As he joined me inside, I couldn't resist asking, "Is this your car?" I inquired, surprised.
"Yeah, one of them," he replied casually.
"How do you manage to afford all of this?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
"Do you know Lucky?" Chance inquired.
In Saginaw, who didn't know him? I thought to myself, nodding in response.
"He taught me the ropes of investing my money and letting it grow. It's been quite lucrative for my bank accounts."
Chance gently took my hand, and as I sat there, I felt like a princess, a smile gracing my lips.
Today has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. The highlight of my evening wasn't even the kiss by the water; it was him stepping out of his car, opening my door, and guiding me to the front door. As he knocked on the door, I mentioned, 'I have keys.' He raised his hands in a gesture of patience.
My dad swung open the door, appearing as if he had just woken from a deep slumber.
"Good evening, sir. I'm Terrance. I'm sorry for the late hour, but I was bringing Starlene back from the bonfire. May I have your permission to sit on the porch with her for a few moments? I understand it's late."
My dad was taken aback; he was at a loss for words. "Pleasure to meet you, young man. I'm Mr. Gibson. Feel free to stay, just keep it quiet," my dad replied. He kissed my forehead, closed the screen door, and left the main door ajar.
"You're so weird; we could have chatted out here quietly, and he wouldn't have been any wiser," I playfully teased him.
"Nah, you can't come to a man's house without announcing yourself. It's disrespectful. And when we have a daughter, I hope no knucklehead little boy try that with her," Chance remarked.
I realized he wasn't just planning our future; but we already had a daughter. Okay.
"What's your schedule for tomorrow?" he inquired as we sat on the steps.
"I don't have any plans," I confessed.
"Would you be interested in volunteering with me at the youth center?" he asked.
"I would love to," I replied with a smile.
"I'll swing by to pick you up at 9 am tomorrow morning. Does that work for you?" he inquired.
"Yes," I responded, feeling a blush creeping up my cheeks.
"Why are you blushing?" he asked, his gaze captivating me with his charm, daring to question my flushed cheeks.
'How could I not be blushing with you looking at me like that,' I thought, but instead, I replied, "I don't know."
My moment got interrupted when Tino drove down the street. He slowed as he passed my house, then backed up and hopped out like we were still cool or something.
"What's up?" he asked, acting like he deserved an answer. "Who the fuck is this?" he demanded, pointing at Chance.
Before I could react, Chance intervened. "Oh, he's talking to you?" he gestured towards the air on his right. "Yeah, man, he must be talking to you because he sure isn't addressing me or my lady in that tone," Chance declared as he rose to his feet.
