Sorry this update took so long, you guys! I have had trouble with the internet and my grammar checker, and I was trying to figure out where in Ninjago's plotline this would fall, especially since this is a Lloyd-centric chapter. Anyway, the new chapter is here, and I can't wait for you to read it! Without further ado, here's the new chapter!
---------------------------------------------------------
Lloyd sat on the mountainside, tired from the training and walking he and his father had done. It had been days now, and they had yet to hear anything from the other Ninja. Lloyd wondered how the team was doing if the Overlord had been erased. Then, his thoughts wandered to Olivia. Lloyd grabbed her locket out of his gi and opened the locket, gazing at the picture that Olivia treasured. She looked a lot like her mom. Olivia had her mom's blonde hair and amber eyes. Lloyd remembered the first time he had seen Olivia. Although he had been startled, he had been immediately captivated by those big, round, amber eyes. Lloyd missed them. He missed Olivia.
"What are you looking at, son?" Garmadon asked, looking away from the small fire they'd built. Lloyd looked up from the picture and over at his father.
"The picture inside Olivia's locket," Lloyd responded, showing the picture to his father. Garmadon smiled at Lloyd.
"She means a lot to you, doesn't she?" Garmadon asked. Lloyd nodded. "So, tell me about Olivia. How did you two meet?" Lloyd smiled, fondly recalling the day he met her.
"It was shortly after I defeated the Overlord. Mom and I were walking around Ninjago City when she ran into me, literally," Lloyd started. He chuckled and rubbed the back of his head, remembering the brief headache he had gotten when his head hit the cement. It had been worth it because Olivia was a great friend. Lloyd started thinking about the first time he and Olivia hung out with Anne and Cole's supervision.
"Come on, Lloyd! I know you can keep up!" Olivia said as she skated circles around the Golden Ninja.
"I'm not as fast as you, Olivia. I'm still learning!" Lloyd replied, trying to skate slowly so that he wouldn't fall. Olivia slowed her own pace and stopped skating circles. She had a big smile on her face. It seemed almost mischievous.
"No wonder why it was so easy to skate circles around you," Olivia said jokingly. Lloyd couldn't help but match her smile. He could tell Olivia was trying to make skating fun, even if it wasn't on the track.
"Liv, don't be rude!" Anne called from behind. Lloyd had forgotten that Anne and Cole had tagged along. Olivia immediately flushed and turned to Lloyd.
"Sorry," she apologized. "I wasn't trying to be rude."
"I could tell. You're just trying to have some fun," Lloyd responded.
"And I was trying to tease you," Olivia admitted. Lloyd laughed, enjoying Olivia's honesty. He suddenly had an idea.
"Hey, why don't we try to lose the tail?" Lloyd whispered. Olivia thought for a minute and then nodded her head.
"Let's do it. I'll pull you so we can lose Anne," she responded, grabbing Lloyd's arm. Then, without warning, Olivia took off, pulling Lloyd behind her. Lloyd let out a cry of surprise. He was startled by Olivia's speed on the skates. "Are you okay?" she called back, turning to look at Lloyd. He noticed Olivia's smile was even bigger than before. She was having fun.
"Yeah! Just a little surprised, that's all!" Lloyd replied, matching Olivia's smile. Olivia turned her focus back ahead, letting her long, blonde ponytail trail behind her.
