Teen Activists

Contrary to popular belief, teenagers can be activists and protesters among adults. Greta Thunberg and Jadav Payeng are youth-started passionate environmental activists. Thunberg is a youth protester. She was dubbed ¨Time Person of the Year.¨ She's an active protester for environmental protection. Payeng planted a whole forest called Mulai Kathoni. He transformed it from a barren island into a forest hosting certain endangered species such as tigers, rhinos, and elephants. He planted thousands of trees in five years on a 494-acre land plot. Thunberg and Payeng have done quite the job in increasing activism.

Greta Thunberg is a Swedish youth environmental activist and protester named "Time's Person of the Year" December 11th, 2019. She said she was 'surprised and honored' to be dubbed as "Time's Person of the Year." She's an 16 year old activist who has "become the face of a new generation of environmental activists." She draws large crowds with any appearances she makes at protests. Some love and welcomed her work, some have criticized her work. She believes that, "...governments need to drastically increase their efforts to combat climate change." This is what is known as the "Greta effect." She insists that medias should pay attention to other activists.

On the other hand, Jadav Payeng planted a whole forest named Mulai Kathoni. He planted thousands of trees in just five years and took the barren land to a forest of 494-acres. The forest he created is multi-purpose for livestock, crops, and more. The cows and other livestock have grazing sites, there's economic benefits and successes. He also spends his time making sure his forest he planted is safe. He, just like Thunberg, received a bit of criticism from the people living in or near the forest, saying that they couldn't farm their rice paddies because of elephants. The people threatened to cut down the forest. Payeng succeeded in making the people realize the forest's value.

While they are both different, they are the same as one another. Their governments were different, but they still were both very active and were passionate about their projects. Thunbergs government was extremely critical of her, but that didn't stop her. They were both so passionate about their projects, the media recognized both of them. They both started as indigenous youth activists in different times. Payeng started his activism almost 4 decades ago, while Thunberg started hers a few years ago. They both draw large crowds of people anywhere they go for the most part. They are very alike, but still have lots of differences.

In conclusion, while Greta Thunberg and Jadav Payeng have differences, they are still both very alike in their passions. They are both media-recognized environmental activists and both since-youth activists. They are both very passionate about their projects and received criticism, but that didn't stop either of them from committing themselves to their passions.
