Tobias's point of view:
I gaze intently out the window as the driver maneuvers deeper into the dense woods. With a heavy sigh, I come to terms with the harsh reality of being sent to a camp for troubled youth.
After what feels like an eternity, I notice the car gradually slowing down until it comes to a stop beside a cluster of rustic cabins. "Well kid, this is your stop," the driver announces. I meet his gaze, grab my worn backpack, and step out of the car, taking in the scent of pine and the sounds of nature surrounding me.
I watch as the car drives away before I turn to look at the cabins and large area of woods. Hearing leaves getting kicked up, I turn just in time to see a fluffy German shepherd running toward me. "Awh, who's a good boy" I smile as I pet the dog, as he sniffs my bag.
"That's Duke" I turn back around to see a girl watching me. "He's here to 'keep us calm and collected' whatever that's supposed to imply." She rolls her eyes before walking over to me. "Hi, I'm Valerie, welcome to your new home" I tilt my head before nodding. "I'm Tobias, but people shorten it to toby" I gently pet Duke, before hearing a sharp whistle come through the air, making Duke run towards the sound.
I look up to see a group of boys standing together. "Those boys are gonna be with you the majority of the time since girls have their cabin and vice versa." She begins to point them out, starting with the boy who whistled. "That's Matteo, he claims he owns Duke since the counselors only come here once in a blue moon, but Duke goes wherever he wants to." She moves onto a guy with black hair. "That would be Charles, then" She pauses for a second before pointing at a guy with dark brown hair. "That's Cole and the one standing beside him is" she points to a guy with light brown hair, "that's Gaege and the guy leaning against the tree is Vincent I think he's Russian, not too sure though"
Valerie turns to look at me. "The girls are inside so you won't meet them yet, but there's Aubrey, me obviously, Charlotte, and Camila. Any questions?" I look down at my hands before speaking. "You said the counselors aren't here a lot so how do y'all get food and stuff" Valerie looks at me before speaking. "Well, they drop off a lot of food, snacks, pet food, medicine, pretty much anything we'd need every other week so while they do stay gone we pretty much stay stocked up on things." She plays with her hands before speaking again, "And also.. since Vincent is the only boy not paired up with a roommate, you're going to be his roommate" I turn to look at Vincent "Is that bad?" She shrugs before pointing at a cabin, "That's the boy's cabin, Vincent's room should be door 10" I nod grabbing my bag, "thanks for the help Valerie" I mumble. "No problem, Toby!"
After walking around aimlessly, I find room 10 and walk inside. I glance around the room, looking at the different posters and decorations. I set my bag on the empty bed before lying on the bed and covering my face with my hands. "So you're my roommate?" I quickly looked up at, my now roommate, Vincent standing in the doorway. "Yeah, that'd be me.." Vincent looked over my bag before his eyes shifted towards me. "I'm Vincent" I look at his hand as he holds it out to me. "Tobias.. Toby for short.." I say as I shake his hand. "You should go ahead and go to bed new boy, don't worry about unpacking on your first day." I tilt my head at him as he lays on his bed, before I nod, "yeah I guess that'd be a good idea" I mumble, laying back down on my bed, before letting sleep consume me.
