(Why didn't you tell me)
I went shopping and I ran into the swimming coach, I congratulated him again on the team winning the division championship, he said he doesn't know how they'll do next year sense Sasha quit the team. I told him this is the first I've heard about Sasha quitting the team, I asked him did he say why, couch said he wouldn't tell him, and so did Jacob it's been almost two weeks now. But Jacob could be the reason why they both quit.
Mrs. Kincaid, I thought Sasha would've mentioned it the day we got back from the meet, she said he never said anything. She thanked me and walked away; I just hope Sasha doesn't tell her I tried to get him to come to my room, I'll just tell her it was completely innocent if he does.
I paid for my things and went home, when I got there I left the bags in the car I went into the house, I called for Sasha, he didn't answer, I went upstairs and walked in his room, clothes were on the floor, I knocked on his bathroom door, I knew Jacob was here when I left, I said they better not be in there having sex. I opened the door, and they weren't in here, I walked out of the room and down the stairs, I looked out back and they were kissing by the pool.
I went out there, Sasha I ran into the swim coach at the market, so you two quit the swim team why to do this, you two don't even know if this thing you're doing will last, you're so young.
Gran, yes, we're together, I wanted to tell you, and yes, we did quit the team, but it has nothing to do with our relationship, coach made some advances at me, and I won't let anyone hurt me again, she said that man should be fired. Gran said she's sorry she didn't know but go and get the groceries out of the car, gran went into the house.
Jake said coach managed not to tell her what he tried to do with me, we got the groceries, Jake said it looks like gran is going to barbecue steaks, ask can he stay for dinner, I holler gran can Jake stay for dinner. The doorbell rang, I opened the door, and this woman is standing there, I asked can I help her, she asked for gran, I told her she's upstairs, Jake said he'll get her, I told her to come in.
She kept staring at me, she said I'm Sasha, I told her yes, does she know me, she said yes, but it's been a long time since she's seen me, Jake came back down and said gran is coming down, I told her this is my friend Jake. Oh, I didn't get your name, she said Mrs. Wright, she said nice meeting both of us, I told her to take a seat.
Gran came downstairs she said Cece, Mrs. Wright said hello mama, I said this woman is her daughter, gran said and my mother, I said no, why did she come back here, gran and I are doing just fine without her.
She said she didn't mean to upset me, I said upset me, what the fuck did she think would happen when she shows up after fourteen years. Grand told me to watch my mouth, that woman said a lot has changed since she left, she knew I would be safe here with gran.
She told gran she got married and he's a good man, she couldn't face it here and people talking about her having a child so young, gran told her to stay away from Darnell Dave's, he never wanted her, she knew what he was, but she had to have him, he left town, to be with that person. He never even knew about her being pregnant.
I know mama I made a mistake, but like I said I got married to a good man thing's changed for me, Sasha you have siblings a brother and sister, they're fifteen and thirteen, there at the hotel with their father, they can't wait to meet you.
I told her I don't give a shit about her, and her fucking family, gran walked up to me and slapped me she told me to repeat after her, they'll be no disrespect in my grandmother's house, she told me to say it, I repeated her words. Her words were like the ones we heard in that old movie, gran made us watch, called a Raisin in the sun, why the fuck am I thinking about an old movie now.
