Chapter 23: Arabiah

Five Months Later

"Thank you for coming," You're welcoming in the last bunch of family and friends from Kento's side. They all have smiles stretching from ear to ear like they couldn't be more proud of their boy.

Kento approaches you and places his palm on your belly, caressing the silky white dress you were wearing and, the growing bump.

A baby is on the way.

He kisses his own palm then places it on your belly.

"Are you a girl or a boy?" He's talking to your belly. He whispered it, expecting only you to hear it but an outsider unexpectedly caught onto it as well.

"I don't know, let's find out." Toji chuckles. Kento looks back, eyes widened but a smile on his face. "Yeah, right."

Kento takes your hand and leads you to the podium.

It's finally time for the reveal.

The setting is a simple but beautiful setup in your backyard. It's a small gathering with the people you're closest with and the revealing of the baby's gender will be done by popping a balloon. The balloon contains either pink or blue confetti.

You skim your eyes around the crowd, noticing a fluctuation of pink and blue outfits. Both you and Kento requested the guests to dress in the color they think the baby is going to be, and it seems that everybody had differing opinions.

You look back at Kento and he places a pin in your hand. He's turning over to grab the large balloon and your heart is rising and falling.

The anticipation of the room is growing and everyone is in suspense.

"Ready?" Kento looks at you.

"Ready." You assure.

It's unalloyed silence as you adjust the pin in your hand to position it to be ready to pop. The crowd then begins to chant a countdown.

You take a deep breath.

"3..."

Your hand is gripping onto the pin tighter.

"2..."

Kento is already beginning to smile.

"1..."

You close your eyes as you stab the pin to the balloon.

*Pop*

"It's a boy!"

All motion came rushing back into you, and the gender reveal balloon bursted open, sprinkling blue confetti into the air. Your new baby was a baby boy. You kiss Kento, and Salem sprints over to the two of you, jumping in pure excitement.

"I'm gonna have a baby brother!" She screams. Kento carries her and spins her in the air. "That's right," He says. "And you're going to be the best sister ever!"

All of your family brings you into a hug. You're crying tears of joy. Kento is getting pounced by his relatives, who are absolutely ecstatic. The entire backyard has erupted into a ambience of livelihood and celebration and you begin to feel almost hysterical—like this life is too good to be true.

Kento brings you into his arms and spins you around thrice. You look him in the eyes and notice the tears streaming down his face. You hadn't noticed earlier because you were being swarmed by your own relatives. And you realized that he was looking at your face, thinking the exact same thing.
