Spencer rolled his chair out onto the front porch to retrieve the mail from the box just as that annoying woman from next door came striding up the walkway of his property, swinging her arms by her sides. Sol's so called mother who Spencer was beginning to believe was insane. She was also getting very big for only seven months. He remembered having seen one of DuBuis' cousins by his Uncle Panther Kellie Jeanette when she was pregnant. Kellie Jeanette had been just as big in the same month and she had had triplets. He hoped it was not triplets. The world did not need three more LuLu clones.
" Good morning ," he called out to her politely as he went through the day's mail.
LuLu snapped tersely," What's good about it ? See here ! What are you people going to do about that tree ? "
Spencer looked up and over at her. " What tree exactly are you referring to, Mrs. Simms ?"
" Salmon. My name is Salmon. "
He wanted to laugh. " That is not what your husband says it is. "
" Oh what does he know? The tree I'm" referring" , Mr. Snootty Bougie Money Child Stealer , is the one in the backyard. It's putting all those nasty fruit things on our yard. "
Spencer did laugh at that point. " The crab apple tree? It's barely started to blossom. It's also very beautiful in full bloom. "
LuLu snorted ," Whatever. I want it cut down. Immediately. It's a nuisance. Like you are. "
Spencer thinned his lips. " I think not. That tree has been here longer than either of us have been. It will continue to exist. If you are displeased with it and me take me to court. " He smiled coolly. " That went so well for you last time. Didn't it ? "
