CHAPTER FIFTEEN ! i'm the luckiest girl.

" WE need to talk," evie says, grabbing mal and raina's arms and beginning to walk towards the castle.
"yeah," mal replies.
"no," carlos states.
"no?" evie repeats.
"you guys are always going off in a huddle, whispering your girl-talk stuff, or whatever. and jay and i are tired of it," carlos says.
jay looks at carlos, "i'm not," he reassures, holding his hand up.
carlos looks back at jay and shrugs, "we're your family, too. we've been through a lot. together. we're not stopping that now. okay?" he sighs, "everyone, sit," he states, sitting down on the grass.
raina looks at the four, "yeah i feel like i shouldn't be here for this, im gonna go," she says, before getting stopped by mal.
mal grabs raina's hand, "stay. it's okay, you're apart of us. i promise," she says.
raina sighs and sits with the other four. carlos stammers, trying to think of something to say, "i don't know how to start girl talk," he says, his words cut up by slight voice cracks.
carlos looks to jay who shrugs, "what up?"
evie chuckles as mal looks off into the distance, "um. well, i'm a mess, i'm such a mess," she says shaking her head. she smiles and laughs nervously as raina and evie both rub her shoulders, "i mean, six months ago, i was, you know, stealing candy from babies. and now, everybody wants me to be this lady of the court, and i have no idea how to keep up the act."
carlos smiles slightly, "then don't."
jay goes to stand up, "see? this was dumb," he states.
"maybe it wasn't," raina says, not looking away from carlos. she nods to him to keep going.
evie grabs mal's hand, "we're always going to be the kids from the isle. i tried to forget it, i really tried. but those are our roots. and we all did what we had to do to survive, but it made us who we are," evie preaches, "and we're never gonna be like anybody else here, no offense intended raina," raina shakes her head, "and that's okay. that's okay."
