"Hi, (Y/N)!" Light greeted that next morning, everything about him looking so much more vibrant and cheerful now that he was not under the influence of the Death Note—his eyes being the most warm compared to how dark and calculating they were before. "Um... hey, so... something weird happened yesterday, and I don't really know how to describe it, but... I think I lost time."(Y/N) blinked.
Oh, boy.
Well, this is easy to explain away.
"I'm sure you were just studying so hard for that exam that you lost track of time," she lied with a shrug, a smile slipping on her lips.
"Yeah, maybe..." Light trailed off.
He didn't look convinced.
(Y/N) sighed as she readjusted the straps of her bag, knowing that she had to take his memory for a reason yet feeling a bit guilty since he seemed so kind and innocent now. She wanted to smack herself for all of those reasons, especially since she knew that he had opened up to her as a friend. Even if he hadn't confided in her about being Kira, he still kept her close and allowed his walls to go down whenever they were together.
Her expression grew determined.
It's the only way.
Once I speak to Misa, I'll put my plan in motion. And then once completed, Light will be free.
"Light, I'm sure this was just a one time thing," (Y/N) continued after pulling herself away from her own inner thoughts, flashing the boy a charming smile that made the tips of his ears burn red—not that she noticed since they were covered by his hair. "After you ace that exam, everything will be better. Trust me on that."
"You know, I always feel like I can," he responded, his heart speeding up in his chest.
"Obviously."
Light stared at (Y/N) from the corner of his eye.
He was entranced.
If he were being completely honest, he wasn't sure why he had approached (Y/N) in the first place at all, but he was now quite glad that he did. He hadn't meant to become this attached to one person, but he found himself to enraptured and used to her presence that he wasn't sure he would be able to go on normally if she wasn't by his side. She had become a constant that he had grown dependent on—like a drug that he wasn't sure he wanted to quit.
He knew it was bad.
But that was why it felt so good.
To be able to always look upon her, to see those (E/C) eyes gaze deeply back at him, to see the way her lips curled into that mischievous smile—he drank in everything eagerly.
He couldn't remember what it was.
Why he wanted her.
But then again, as long as he was able to obtain her, it didn't matter if he didn't remember.
He wished to entrap her.
To twine her to him as much as he was to her.
How was the question.
But the answer to such a question was certainly very simple: all he had to do was make her so painfully aware of him as a man that she wouldn't be able to look at him as anything but. And he knew just the method to do so. His expression reflected the pleasure he felt at what he was about to do, his head tilting to the side that made his bangs brush further across his forehead at the action.
Oh, (Y/N)...
It's funny how you don't even know...
Throwing an arm around her shoulder, noticing how she didn't even jolt at the unexpected touch, Light said, "I wonder what Ryuga is up to these days? He hasn't called for us in a while..."
His eyes sharpened.
Well, (Y/N)?
What will be your reaction?
Once I confirm you feel nothing for L like I so dreadfully thought, I can move forward.
"Who knows?" The girl shrugged, glancing at the way his hand seemed to hover around her in a protective and rather possessive manner—not that she minded in the least even if Ryuk was trailing behind them with a shit-eating grin that she knew he had despite not being able to see it. "Kira's killings have halved and in some cases, completely stopped on some days. What's more, there haven't been any new leads towards new developments and breakthroughs. I'm sure he's just busy with logistics."
Light's brow twitched.
She certainly... has thought this out.
But that doesn't necessarily mean anything since she is part of the investigation team, too.
"On one hand, I'm disappointed that we haven't been able to catch Kira, but on the other, I'm glad I get to spend time with you like this—normally, that is," Light smirked as he bent his head forward ever so slightly, a rather complex emotion dancing in his brown eyes. "I miss being able to just walk with you and talk like this without having to worry about the investigation."
"I thought it was great experience for you," (Y/N) pointed out with a chuckle.
"It is... but nothing is better than having you by my side," he challenged her comment, watching intently how her face changed upon his rather suggestive words.
"I'm glad my presence means that much to you," she answered casually.
Yet, her knees went weak.
Gah, dayum.
It's like he's gotten a hell of a lot more bold without the Death Note.
I gotta say...
It's really fucking hot.
Of course, at her undesired answer, Light let out a soft sigh as he retracted his arm from her shoulder to let it drop back to his side. But, almost immediately, her arms intertwined around his own so she could pull him closer, visibly flustering him since he hadn't expected her to do anything so forward as that.
"You can't just pull away so suddenly like that," (Y/N) rolled her eyes, acting like she had no idea how she was affecting him. "It's cold."
"Right," his lips trembled. "My bad."
He turned away.
He just hoped she didn't see just how turned on he was by her actions.
This girl...
She's so fucking tempting.
