L knew that Light had feelings for (Y/N)—almost obsessively so. He knew since he felt the same way towards her, had consummated his love with her. So, he should have known that Light would try to do something to (Y/N) since it was obvious they were both obsessed with the same woman. Light stood up from the bed before stopping just in front of L, the two staring at each other with barely restrained anger and resentment.

    (Y/N) exhaled softly.

She knew that this was all her fault.

That meant she also couldn't let it happen.

"Light, Ryuzaki..." (Y/N) began as she stood up with them, her expression void of emotion. "I know what you're thinking... don't do it."

"You could certainly understand why though," Light chuckled darkly.

She knows.

She knows that L and I feel the same—of my... feelings for her and what I would do for her. I hoped she would never see the part of me that shows how much she fills my thoughts, how she controls me, how much I need her.

    I really wish she didn't.

    But she does.

    And now...

I don't have to hold back anymore.

In that instance, Light let his mask of normalcy slip from his expression, and he finally revealed his true emotions to L for the first time since they had met—anger that burned hot, envy that darkened his soul, and corruption that had darkened his heart. It was truly a sight that astonished L to the point where he didn't notice the way Light pulled his fist back until it connected with his jaw. Stumbling backwards, reeling in shock, L wasn't able to avoid the second punch, nor the third one.

It was only until Light tried to strike a fourth blow did L duck down and kick out his leg to stroke the other square in the gut, forcing him backwards. (Y/N) pinched the bridge of her nose, exasperated.

    These two...

"What's the matter, (Y/N)?" L huffed, blowing a strand of his raven hair out of his face.

    "I'm sorry?" She glanced up.

"Despite the fact that we're fighting, despite the fact that we both have feelings for you, and despite the fact that Nakashima Rin is now dead... you seem far too calm about any of it," L murmured, his eyes immediately turning to Light who ran forward and grabbed him the collar to throw him to the floor.

"...As much as I hate to admit it, he's right," Light agreed with a scowl as he watched L get back up in a crouch quickly after being thrown, his brown eyes darkening several shades. "(Y/N)... what is it about you? Since the moment we've actually had a conversation that day in high school, it's almost as if you could see everything that would unfold—that you knew exactly what we were thinking."

    (Y/N) didn't answer him.

And she didn't have to, for his attention was once again recaptured when he had to dodge L's kick.

    Her lips thinned.

I was too obvious.

They saw that.

"I... just know both of your characters and what you're likely to do," she muttered softly as she cast her gaze to the floor. "But, I want to ask the both of you something important." She watched as they both looked her way even though they were gripping each other's collars, then continuing, "Have you not ever thought that I might feel the same?"

It only took a second for them to react.

    L's gaze glimmered with infatuation.

Light's lips curled into a smirk.

Simultaneously releasing his grip on L's shirt while sidling out of his grasp, Light stepped forward and engulfed (Y/N) in a rather constricting hug, shocking both her and the detective who's eyes soon narrowed in a silent rage of jealousy. And with his face turned away from both of them, he let a rather wicked smile grace his features.

    Finally.

    She's mine.

"Take your hands off her," L's once monotone voice dipped into that of a growl as he gripped Light's arm and practically ripped him away from (Y/N) with a type of strength he hadn't expected the detective to have.

L hovered protectively in front of (Y/N), keeping her from Light and therefore, keeping her to himself instead. The thought didn't bode too well with Light who was now looking more animalistic that anything, his once calm facade now completely ripped to shreds and left behind. He had nothing left to lose if he could have (Y/N)—nothing. Light would not allow a man he viewed as below him to ever have what he thought was rightfully his.

And one should never try to seek or take the object or person that is regarded in obsession since it could lead to disastrous consequences.

But now there was two.

Two so filled with this lust and hunger.

    It couldn't end without bloodshed.

"Both of you, stop!" (Y/N) yelled as she then shoved L and Light away from one another just as the rest of the Task Force walked in with several pieces of paper in hand, immediately halting when processing the scene in front of them.

Nothing was said for a moment.

It was so silent one would have been able to hear a pin drop, everyone was holding their breath.

Aizawa, seeming to have enough of the awkward tension, cleared his throat before declaring, "Ryuzaki, we found something that we thought you might be interested in. A man died of a heart attack on the eastbound train of the Yamanote line on November fifteenth. The thing is, he has no record, so Kira couldn't have gotten his name from a criminal database or anything like that."

"We think it means that Kira was in that train!" Matsuda jumped in.

"Yeah, and considering his name would have been impossible to find in the normal way Kira deals with criminals, I can't help but assume that this Kira has the same powers as the second Kira," Soichiro added after a moment, pushing up his glasses that were perched on his nose.

"Interesting..." L placed his thumb to his lip, seeming to move away from his fight with Light.

    (Y/N)'s eyes widened.

    This is it.

    This is it
