𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓 𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐄 of Joni Mitchell's Clouds played on the turn table as Ava sat at the kitchen table grading her students' exams and Bobby worked on Sunday's sermon, when the door bell rang.
"I'll get it." Bobby smiled
Ava smiled and gently replied, "Alright honey."
Bobby walked to the foyer and answered the door to Freya, her once blonde hair, now turned gray, swept away from her kind face. "Hi Bobby." she smiled, as she embraced her nephew in-law
"Hey Freya." Bobby smiled as he returned her embrace. "Come on in."
Upon hearing her aunt's voice, Ava walked into the foyer, and smiled at her aunt. "Aunt Freya." she smiled as she embraced her aunt.
"Hello, gorgeous." Freya smiled as she returned her niece's embrace.
As Ava and Freya walked into the living room, Bobby made them both a glass of iced tea then joined them in the living room. "How are you feeling, Freya?" Bobby asked as he joined his wife on the couch
"I'm feeling alright, honey. Elijah called the both of you, didn't he?" Freya asked as she sipped her iced tea, and Ava and Bobby nodded. "Darlings, I'm so sorry."
Ava placed a hand on her aunt's shoulder and replied, "No aunt Freya, don't be sorry." Bobby, who was sitting next to Ava added, "You have nothing to apologize for."
Freya sighed, then replied, "No, it's just, I wanted to tell you both and even Stevie in person myself."
"Don't you dare worry about that. You and uncle Elijah took care of me after mom and dad passed away, now it's my turn to take care of you. I know you have some MRI results coming back, how are you feeling about that?" Ava asked
"I'm a little anxious, but I think I'll be alright. Will the both of you go with Elijah and I?" Freya asked
"Of course we will." Bobby said. "What time is your appointment?"
Freya opened her purse and took out her wallet, and looked at the appointment card. "3:30."
"Well, we have a little time to spend the day doing whatever you'd like to do." Ava said. "Just name it, and we'll do it for you." Bobby added.
"Well, I've been wanting to go to one of those old record stores. Remember all the Joni Mitchell albums I used to have? I've lost a couple, and I would love to see if they have them." Freya said
"Alright, well, I'll grab my purse, and we'll go." Ava smiled.
