The lights of the screens, the dark of the hallways, the black floor covered in orange patterns and the smell of pop corns was what Naomi believed was cinema, more than the films themselves. She was a girl that spent her free time in the local cinema at her city, so she considered herself quite an expert. She was noticeable mostly because of her unique look, she had long light blue hair, a pair of green eyes and a weird scar under her left eye. From what she knew she was born with it.
But anyway, she often came there also dressed in her school outfit, since she wasn't used to go home between school and cinema, and thanks to her subscription to the cinema she didn't even have to pay every single time. She was also noticeable to always be alone when visiting the cinema, after all at school she was the usual silent girl and out of school she was only at the cinema. The rare cases where she wasn't alone were when also her twin sister, Miriam, was with her. They were twins but outside of her face it was impossible to say they were even related, because of how short and colored Miriam kept her hair.
Most of the films Naomi used to watch were anime films, since she watched the series at home on her phone late at night, therefore she was used to be quite lonely in the room when the screen started screaming the next story she was interested in.
Sadly, for how much she loved finishing school and spending her free time watching films, it wasn't really approved by her family, and by her classmates she was considered quite a loser with little to no grip to reality. She just waved the bad comments off, and for a few years this was her life.
It was a week before her 18th birthday when her parents actually forced her to talk open to them about her way too extreme hobby.
"We are not talking about your mental health, but also about your physical one. You are sitting too for way too many hours in a day. It's no good" his father said worried; after fixing her beloved black ribbon she turned back at him "Well father, it's my choice. I know that it isn't good, but don't act like everything you do is any better! You and mom are always busy smoking and drinking, I just can't stand it. I'd rather lose both my legs than smoking." Of course his father didn't take it well, but Naomi used this moment to flee from the house she view as a prison. Using her bike she quickly reached the cinema and walked in, not regretting anything.
Once in she realized why her mother and sister weren't there at home. They were waiting for her at the cinema. She realized how foolish she had just been, however she had one big advantage to her side, she knew the place better than the rest of her family, and it was indeed also pretty big.
She dodged her sister to the side room, running through the main hallway. She knew about the existence of an abandoned room, unused because of the issue with the screen. She planned to hide there for a while before entering a random room with many people.
"NAOMI! COME BACK HERE!"
It was her sister. She had noticed her running way and thanks to her well trained body she quickly caught up to her. Naomi however reached the room and got it. Lucky for her there was a metal pipe next to the entrance, so she locked herself in.
With what she Imagined luck on her side, she saw a room to the left side of the cinema, and with a victorious smirk she opened the door. She stepped out of the abandoned room and for a bare second her view was obscured.
She proceeded to rub her eyes and fall to her knees, she guessed she wasn't used to run so much, but as soon as she got up that was no longer her worry. She opened her eyes wide as she looked around, realizing there was nobody there. Now that was weird because the left side was famous to be the more economic one, but no one was around. She looked down at her watch, realizing it was already 6 pm. . . And let out a loud sigh
"My fricking watch broke down. . . It was 3 pm a few minutes ago. . . Damn it"
She turned back to the door that bringed her there, sighing. She opened it, placing her foot onward to reach the ground, but after a few seconds she felt there was no base. She looked outside with her head and her jaw dropped.
The uncontamined, beautiful, stunning, film-like sky was in front of her. She pushed herself back in as a scream escaped her mouth.
As adrenaline filled her veins she started screaming loudly with one scream after another, as she started running through a similar yet different, almost nostalgic looking maze.
She ran, her heart in her throat and her lungs trying to leave through her ears, as her whole body at one screamed in hope of a dream or hillusion.
When her strentgh finally ran out she dropped om the floor, trying her best to breath, it felt like the air there wasn't even that much. . . Then, as her heart stopped screaming and she calmed down a little she started rubbing her eyes.
"Wake up. You probably fainted from luck of sugars while running. Yes it must be it, it's so obvious and crystal clear. . . Just wake up Naomi. Wake up. Open your eyes. . . Please"
Her yapping was stopped by a clicking sound. It wasn't random, it was a pattern. This started to feel like a film to her to a certain way.
A horror one.
