"I'm over the school year already," I said to my best friend Petrina, who we all called Pet.
"We haven't even stepped inside yet," she laughed as we walked up the path to the front entrance of the school.
"Yeah well I heard I got all of the jerk teachers this year," I responded, walking up the set of stairs leading to the front doors.
"Come on Jas, you said that last year and look what happened," Petrina replied. She was right, I loved all of my teachers last year, our junior year.
"Maybe you're right, you know-it-all," I teased, with a smirk on my face. She gasped and hiccuped at the same time, which turned into a laugh. Not just any laugh though, one of her famous laughs. The one where her head tilts back, hand covers mouth as she tries to hide the obnoxious noise she's making that only she could pull off, with her perfect blonde curls and flawless complexion. Her face was gorgeous, with no sign of the terrible acne she had in middle school. She had lost all of her baby fat and toned up, and she pulled off her pale, Irish skin amazingly.
I on the other hand, was almost the completely opposite. Being Polish, I was pretty tan. My hair more of a dirty blonde to light brown. I was however, lean and athletic like her due to all of the sports I played.
Her laugh was infectious, and soon enough we were both giggling all the way down the hallway to our lockers, looking like freaks. Oh well, who cares? It was our senior year of high school. Who was going to make fun of us, the freshmen?
Once we got to our lockers, we met up with Chad, Brandon, Kaylee and Kyle. Kaylee and Kyle are twins, Chad is Petrina's cousin, and Brandon had been my neighbor since 1st grade.
"Hey ladies, you look excited to be here already," Brandon greeted, running a hang through his shirt brown hair, leaning against the locker next to mine.
"Oh yea, totally," I returned sarcastically. "I'm ready to just be done with high school already," I said. Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Really? I'm excited for the year. I'm majoring in study halls," Chad chimed in, pumping his fist in the air like he had just scored the winning goal in one of his hockey games. Petrina rolled her eyes.
"You're such a dork," she taunted. Chad grabbed his chest like he had been stabbed.
"Oh no, another hit from cuzilla," he staggered backwards into the lockers.
"That makes you related to a dork, Pet," Kyle stated, putting his arm around her shoulders. They had been dating for almost two years now, and were one of the cutest couples I knew. I smiled at them, seeing how happy Petrina was.
"So, what does everyone have first?" Kaylee asked.
"English," said Kyle, Chad, and Petrina in unison. Chad and Kyle high-fived, and Kaylee said that she had English as well.
"I've got science," I said disappointedly.
"Hey, me too!" Brandon exclaimed. I smiled, glad to have at least one friend with me. Just then, the bell rang and everyone groaned.
"Well, we'll see you at lunch?" I questioned. Most nodded, but Chad and Petrina shared that we had Math and Spanish together before then. I smiled, and Brandon and I walked in the opposite direction as them, towards our home room and first period class. Science.

We rounded a corner, and walked to the end of the hall. Stopping in front of the last door, we checked to make sure it was the right room number. It was.
"Secluded much?" I asked, putting my schedule back into my book bag. Brandon laughed.
"Shall we?" He opened the door, gesturing me to go in first. I smiled and stepped inside, looking around. It looked like a normal science room, with lab tables and cabinets filled with every chemical know to man on three walls. On the fourth wall, was a larger lab table and a chalkboard behind it.
"Where do you want to sit?" I asked, looking at Brandon beside me. He shrugged, and pointed to an empty table in the back. We went and sat down, watching the remaining students file in lazily and take a seat.
"Looks like everyone's in the same boat as us," Brandon whispered as soon as the late bell rang.
Once everybody was settled, as if on cue, the door swung open and in walked a tall man with dark hair.
"Good morning everyone, I'm Mr. Reynolds," he introduced himself, writing his name on the chalkboard in large, sloppy letters. When he finished, he turned around and leaned against his lab table.
"Welcome to AP Chemistry," he said, looking around at all of us. "You all look thrilled to be here," he stated.
"We're not," called out Mike Taber, one of my classmates. Everyone laughed, and even Mr. Reynolds couldn't suppress a smile while he raised an eyebrow. A tingling sensation ran through my stomach when he flashed his pearly smile. To be honest, he wasn't too bad to look at.
"And your name is?" Mr. Reynolds asked, sitting down on top of the lab table as he crossed his arms.
"Taber. Mike Taber, nice to meet you sir," replied Mike, grinning. A few people chuckled.
"Well Mr. Taber, I see you're pretty funny, aren't you?" Inquired Mr. Reynolds. Mike smirked.
"I like to think so sometimes," he responded.
"Hmm, well since we know about you, why don't we go around the room and introduce ourselves. You," he pointed to the girl sitting in the front left corner. "Tell us your name and one thing you did over the summer." The girl looked confused. "Go on, don't be shy," Mr. Reynolds ordered.
"Um, my name is Molly Green. I went to Hershey Park," she said.
"Good Molly, now you," he pointed to the girl sitting next to her. After twenty minutes, he finally got to the last two students; Brandon and I.
"I'm Brandon Copperton, and I protected my couch from robbers this summer," he said, earning a laugh from the rest of the class. I rolled my eyes and smiled. Mr. Reynolds shook his head.
"Wow, interesting life you've got there, Mr. Copperton. And last," he looked at me, his eyes grey and sparkling in the light," and please don't make it the least," his said. He sounded bored.
"Uh, I'm Jasmine Bartosik. I went to Poland over the summer," I answered. Now Mr. Reynolds looked surprised.
"Really? Do you have family there?" He asked, sounding like he was somewhat interested. His eyes stayed locked on mine, making me shiver. The man was good-looking.
"Yeah, my whole family. Except for my parents and I," I answered again.
"So you must speak some Polish?" He asked. I nodded, wanting the attention off of me. Most people had turned around to look at me, making me really uncomfortable.
"Would you care to say something?" He asked.
"Like what?" I had no clue what to actually say. It could have been anything, and they wouldn't know what it meant.
"Ile masz lat?" He asked, completely surprising me. I didn't know he spoke Polish, and neither did the rest of the class judging by how they were just staring at him dumbfounded.
"Siedemnaście," I replied. He nodded, satisfied with my answer. He opened his mouth to speak again, but the bell rang.
"Okay class, tomorrow lab safety, and Wednesday we'll get right to work," he said. We all got up and starting leaving the room.
"Miłego dnia," he said, just as Brandon and I were about to leave. I smiled slightly and nodded, then left.
"Care to tell me what the hell just happened? I mean, I know you speak Polish, but what did he say? Brandon asked.
"He asked how old I was. I said seventeen, and just now he said to have a nice day," I replied, pulling out my schedule to see what I had next. Spanish.
"Well, I have Spanish now. I'll see you at lunch?"
"Will do. That is, if I'm cool enough to sit with you, Miss. Teacher's pet,"he smirked teasingly.
"Shut up," I glared at him, but it didn't last long. I ended up laughing with him until we parted ways.
