Chapter 3

"Look at my girl about to be a mom." Eboine was saying. It was a a windy Thursday at the shop, just a quarter past five. "So you about to be a mom and a step mom, that's some crazy ass shit." Vanna said. "I hope I have a boy." I said. When I got home I made me a nice hot bubble bath with candles lit around the tub. For a minute my eyes were closed until I smelled weed. Once I opened my eyes I saw Melvin in the mirror smoking. "I guess you don't see me." I said. "All I see is money." Melvin said. He started laughing. "You know I got pregnant." I said. Melvin sat on the side of the tub. "You know pregnant sex is the best sex." Melvin responded. I splashed some water in his face. "Quit fucking playing so much.". I said. "I hope it's a girl, but I'm about to head out, you gone be straight?" Melvin asked. "What you mean you about to head out, no I'm not going to be straight. Where in the hell are you going?" I asked. "To get some money, plus Safe Squad has to record their new music, I meant to tell you that earlier but yea they will be over here damn near every night." Melvin said. "So your leaving me tonight to go trap basically." I said. "Nahh, I really was about to go pick up Keonna, Desean's little sister." Melvin said. My mouth dropped. "Hell no for what?" I asked. "She got put out and Tyra wants a break so I'm about to go get her." "Baby I love Keonna, but I don't think she'll be fit to come stay here, I mean she's to much into the streets and violence." I said. "I know but she's going to be okay here, Desean just needs one week before his house situation gets settled and she'll be moving in with him." Melvin said. "Okay Melvin." I said. Melvin left and didn't return for the night. I thought he was going to get Keonna but instead I saw that he was in jail for first degree murder. Not only him but Desean, Kameron, and more of his homeboys. I'm stressing this can not be real. The crazy part about is that he and his guys murdered Shawn. I was crying but I wasn't sad. I knew his day would come for not leaving the streets alone. I suddenly got a call from Melvin moments later, as he was asking me to come pick him up. I'm confused and a little lost, so what the hell I rolled me a blunt and smoked on the way to get him. I was so happy to see my baby get in the car. So what are the saying about the charge?" I asked. "They finna dismiss the case with lack of evidence." Melvin says. "So who actually killed him, like what made them arrest yawl?" I asked. "Shit, I dumped at him about ten times, and afterwards as I was speeding going to pick up Keonna I got pulled over and they found the guns and charged me. Before we go home we gotta go pick up Keonna." He said. I damn near hit the brakes. "Hell no, she's hot as hell, I can't do it baby." I responded. "She's our niece and she needs to be around somebody like you, your right she's too damn bad but that's because her parents not on her ass, consider it your pre training as a mother." Melvin said. Ten minutes later we were in Keonna's drive way. "Roll up niece." He said the minute Keonna got in the car. "I'm so glad you out uncle, what they talking bout with my brother, hey Vanda." Keonna said. "Hey hun." I said. "They finna release them in a week with lack of evidence. You been going to school everyday?" Melvin asked. "I be going but I leave early like everyday." Says Keonna. Melvin blinked his eye at me. "Keonna, you gotta stay at school the entire day, umma pick you up and take you with me to my shop when you get out." I responded. "Okay." She gasped. For the most part Keonna was actually respect, and showed me she knew how to obey. When we got home, Melvin left right back out. Keonna sat in the kitchens roller chair, and took a sip of her bottle of water. "I thought you was Erica." She tells me out of nowhere. "Who is Erica, if you don't mind me asking?" I ask. "Melvin's Girl Friend, the one who paid his bound.
