Cold. All I felt was cold. The stinging numbness spreading across my pale cheeks. My eyes slowly opened, blinking quickly to adapt to the glaring sunlight. I slowly sat up, my head pounding from a dull pain in the back of my neck.I looked around, eyes wide with fear,as I absorbed the breath-taking sight before me.
Ambulances, Firetrucks, and Police Cars all littered the road before me. My parents car lay on its top a few feet away from me, several policemen surronding it. My heart beat quickened, and I opened my mouth to say something. But nothing came out.
Tears leaked down my cheeks as I quickly whipped my head around to find my little brother. "Jacob!" I screamed loudly, starting to walk around aimlessly. Nothing mattered now to me. I needed to find Jacob. "Jacob! Where are you!" I cried again, pain making my cry rough.
I tried to raise my hand to stop a policeman walking by me, but he kept on walking by. Shock filled me, and I tried to talk to him again.
I realized nobody could hear me. Or even see me. I stopped moving, and my hands trembled. Why is nobody listening to me? I'm a person too!
I began to softly cry, suddenly unable to deal with not being able to know where my family was. All I wanted was to know where my Mom and my Dad was. Heck, I wanted to know where Jacob was.
"Why won't you tell me?" I screamed before I saw her. The snow around her was marked red. Blood. My stomach heaved as I stumbled over to her. "Mom," I cried, falling to my knees.
Her bright green eyes stared up at the sky, lifeless. Her pale skin had snowflakes laying on it, melting into little spots of water. The sight of the snowflakes on her face and in her hair would have been beautiful, if not for the blood that surronded her and the way her eyes were.
A fireman pushed his way to my side unknowingly, his hand rough as he gripped my mother's arm. "Be gentle with her!" I screamed at him, pounding on him with tightly balled fists. No reaction came from him, and a large ball of anger erupted inside of me.
"Answer me already!" I yelled at him, my eyes narrowed as I let out my anger. It made me feel a little better as I let out some of what I was feeling, but I still wanted to cry.
As I looked around quickly, my mother was lifted onto a stretcher and carried to an Ambulance. My heart pounded as I caught a glimpse of my little brother's feet.
"Jacob!" I cried, climbing to my feet and running over to him. His shoes, a pair of bright red-and-black sneakers, lay by his feet, ruined by the impact of the car crash. The other car, a dark green Ford Truck, lay on its side, hidden by my car, but seen easily by Jacob.
I screamed after I saw the state my loving, sweet brother was in.
Blue,Black, and Purple bruises covered his fragile face. A deep gash scored across his forehead, blood steadily dripping down from the side of his face, and from his nose.
As I studied his face, my eyes wandered to his body, and a gasp escaped my dry mouth. His right leg was barely attached to his body. The snow beneath him was stained a deep red. I let out a scream as he was being placed on a stretcher, his limb hanging down limply from the side. I quickly followed him into the ambulance, regardless if I was seen or not. He was my baby brother, and I couldn't let him go alone. I needed to be there for him. I needed to.
