Chapter 21 ~ A promise I will keep

*Fred's POV*

I shouldn't have stormed out like that, but I was angry. I trusted her, thinking I knew all there was to know, and yet there's more?!

I didn't want to stick around and listen to what Kiara had to say about it. So I left, I went to the only person I want to see right now.

I land in the front field of the burrow and run in to find Mum, dad, bill and Fluer, Remus and Tonks, Kingsley, Mad-eye, Snape and Dumbledore all crowded round each other in the kitchen.

"Oh Fred, I'm so glad you got our message-"

*Thud*

Mum is cut off and our attention is diverted to the kitchen window, where a tall dark owl with glowing amber eyes is perched on the edge of the mantel piece. It's the same owl that delivered the letter to Kiara.

It's Bellatrix Le'Strange's owl.

This can't be good.

Ginny, whom I didn't even realize was here, takes the tatty looking parchment from the owls mouth.

She reads the letter aloud.

"If you ever want to see your son alive again, I suggest you send dear, sweet Beatrice into the forbidden forest at twilight. Make sure she's alone!''

I'm so angry right now. I hate Kiara, this is her fault, non of this would have happened if it wasn't for her.

''Who's Beatrice?''

''I am''

We all turn to see Kiara stood by the front door, her cheeks and eyes are puffy and red, her face is shining with tears in the light. It breaks my heart to see her like this, but the only person I have sympathy for right now is my brother.

''What do you mean, you're Beatrice?''

Mum asks Kiara, I feel really bad because everyone is staring her down, like she's nothing, Kiara looks drained and tired, like theirs no fight left in her.

''Beatrice is a name I came up with, I told the dark lord that my name was Beatrice, so that if I ever managed to get away they wouldn't be able to find me, although, that's what I thought would happen''

''Well, Beatrice, I think you need to read this"

Kingsley takes the letter from Ginny and hands it to Kiara. Kiara's expression doesn't change, only a tear comes to her eye and trickles down her cheek.

"So, what should we do?"

*Kiara's POV*

"So, what should we do?"

I ask, looking at everyone who's in the room. They don't look angry, they look drained, like non of then had a peaceful night.

I notice something, as I look around the room, someone is missing, not just George, but someone else, an important member of the order.

Sirius Black.

Don't tell me they've shunned him already.

''Where's Sirius?''

I ask and quickly regret speaking out loud.

''He's gone-''

Remus chokes on his words, I don't even know whats going on?

''What do you mean he's gone? Gone where?''

''Don't act like you don't know!''

It feels like someone just stuck a blunt knife through my heart. Fred's harsh words and forceful tone pierce through my system and hit me like a tone of bricks.

''He's dead Kiara! He's dead! Just like George is, dead-''

''-you don't know that!-''

''-Stop it! The pair of you!''

We both stop arguing and meet the weary eyes of Molly, She looks frustrated and tired.

''This is not the time, nor the place right now. We need to decide what's going to be done about this''

I know what needs to be done, I'm the one that needs to go, I'm the one they're trying to get too.

''If it's me they wan't, then it's me they'll get''

''No Kiara, we need to think of something better than just waltzing through the bloody forest''

Mad-eye growls from the back of the room. He's right but I don't know what they're doing to George, and we shouldn't be waiting around to see what happens.

''Who's side are you on Kinn?''

Mad-eye says, causing my whole body to tense, I can't tell if he really is Mad-eye or barty Crouch Jr.

''Barty Crouch Jr is gone! Don't look at me like a scared little puppy Kiara! Who's side are you on?''

''Yours-''

''-how do we know she'll come back?''

Snape decides to put in his penny's worth. I know a way to make sure they know who's side I'm on. No matter what happens I'll always be on their side, always have been, and always will be.

''I'll make the unbreakable vow''

Silence, dead silence throughout the room. I know the consequences of breaking an unbreakable vow, and I'm willing to risk that just to prove to them I'm their side. Everyone has doubted me from the start, I don't even know if Fred was ever on my side. He probably just pitied me rather than love me.

No, after last night, I don't think it was pitty, or love, it was more than that.

Remus stands from his seat and walks over to me, he's a lot taller than me, he glances over at Fred. Fred holds out his hand to me, I take it with caution, wrapping my hand Fred's wrist, my fingers taking the shape of his wrist and his doing the same. Molly looks scared, but Arthur is holding her back.

Remus takes out his wand and flicks it gently at our hands, causing a small string of light to wrap around our hands, binding them together.

''Kiara - May Kinn, do you swear to serve the Order of the Phoenix and stay loyal to our side should a war be upon us?''

''I do''

My hands are shaking, although, I'm not sure if I'm the one shaking, or Fred.

''And do you promise to bring George home safely and unharmed?''

I glance up at Fred and stay silent for a moment, looking into his eyes, looking at how they tense with each moment going past, the longer I'm silent the more he tenses. 

I take a deep breath in and relax myself before answering.

''I promise''

The silvery string of light slowly fades into itself, releasing it's bond from around our hands. Our arms drop slowly to our sides, like a feather falling from the sky. For a moment everyone is silent, I can't even raise my eyes to look at Fred, or even open them.

Without hesitation, nor a sound, Fred moves so quickly towards me and wraps his arms around me, squeezing me against his chest, like he was pulling all my missing pieces back together again.
