"Hey, Kenzie!" Kenzie heard a voice moving toward her as she made her way out of the mess hall with Erica and Emmet. Kenzie could feel a solid, down to earth aura radiating as they all turned to greet her.
"Hey, Tara" Kenzie smiled.
"What's up, Tara? Where's Melody?" Ash wondered and Kenzie noticed the change in Tara's magic essence.
But she couldnt tell if it was because Tara felt like she was being forced to talk to Ash or if it was just a sore topic for her. "It didn't work out..." she shifted in her spot.
"What? But I thought things were going well..." Kenzie made a face.
"We were just too different" she shrugged.
"Well earth and air are complete opposites" Ash pointed out.
"So are water and fire though" Kenzie reminded him, gesturing to both of them.
"I guess you guys are just the exception" Tara smiled but Kenzie could still see how disappointed her friend was. She's been dying to find the Perfect Partner.
"What about Shawn? He seems like he could be a good Partner" Kenzie nudged Tara as they all took their seats and waited for the professor.
"Mmm I don't know...his power is more technical and I'm not really sure we'll mix too well"
Okay, my fault on that one...Kenzie thought, cringing at the dumb idea in itself. "You know what you need? Someone who can communicate with animals" Emmet voiced and him and Dana showed up and sat in front of their row.
"What she needs is someone who's sturdy, powerful and strong-willed. Not some fluff-lover" Ash argued but then Kenzie nudged him to be quieter because they actually had some animal communicators in their class and his comment wasnt exactly the nicest.
But he just shrugged at her and she just rolled her eyes back at him as she sat down first and had Ash on her right with Tara on her left and Emmet and Erica sat a level down, in front of them. They both turned in their spin chairs to look up at the other three so that they could all continue their conversation.
"What about..." Dana started to voice.
"I appreciate the help you guys. But I think when I find my partner it'll just...happen" Dana and Kenzie exchanged a look knowing they had to accept that answer.
Finding a Partner for some may be more difficult than it is for others but it is still a choice. If the pair is not right for one another then it is their choice to break it off. Kenzie still felt bad though.
She leaned over to Ash. "Hey, maybe we should have a party" she grinned at him.
"What for?"
"To help Tara find a Partner"
"So you want to set her up with someone" he simplified it, keeping his eyes forward.
"It won't be a setup...more like a get together...Dana and Emmet will come too and..."
"I thought she just told you to butt out"
"She's a really close friend, I can't just butt out"
"And where do you suggest we have this get together? In your luxurious dorm suit where more people will become suspicious of your relationship with the headmaster?"
Kenzie glared at his smart ass attitude.
"Besides, you're not exactly the party type" he added.
