¬¬¬¬¬¬'You terrify me'
I heave my bag onto my shoulder, letting it sway with every step I take. I skip slightly, trying to walk in step with the music blasting through my headphones.
' 'Cos you're a man, you're not a boy'
My fingers are tapping against my thighs, my head bobbing to the beat pulsing through my head.
'You got some power, and I can't treat you like a toy'
I turn into the alley, taking the all too familiar walk home, unconsciously weaving around the discarded litter.
'You're the road less travelled by a little girl'
The alley opens onto the main road through the town centre; I walk back into the sun, squinting as the glare from the oncoming cars burns my eyes. The blazer that adorns my body has quickly become a nuisance, the dark fabric, seemingly pulling the sun's rays straight onto my figure.
'You disregard the mess while I try to control the world'
"Get up and get a job" a sharp voice carries across the crowds of people, "Who do you think you are, begging for money that others have worked for while you laze around"
I move towards the source of the commotion, pushing through the shoppers, there is a women glaring at a figure slumped against the wall, a donation box in hand, I take a closer look at the figure.
He was remarkable, he has pale, almost translucent skin with ashen blue eyes, but what catches my attention is his hair, it's a strange concoction of colour, somehow the chunk of aqua hair on the side of his head doesn't clash with the red mop of hair, somehow the random strikes of green doesn't create an ugly mixture, somehow it worked.
'Don't leave me stay here and frighten me'
I rip my headphones from their place and step towards the offending women, "Excuse me, is there really any need to shout?"
"You wouldn't understand child, this hobo seems to think that he can go through life being a slob and stealing money from hardworking individuals such as myself" she looks down her nose at me, staring at the emblem stitched onto my blazer.
I straighten my back and stare the woman in the eye, "what gives you the right to treat this man like this?" I glance at the man whose eyes are burning into me
"I have every ri-" I cut her off with a glare "Humph I have better things to be doing than argue with a child, I will be getting in touch with your school to report you"
"Go right ahead" I turn my back on her and continue my walk home
A pair of footsteps follows me, I spin on my heels ready to give the women another piece of my mind when I slam into a hard chest, I stumble backwards, missing my stepping and landing on the hot path. "Oh my, I am so sorry! Are you okay? Shit" A large calloused paw reaches for my forearm, pulling me from the ground, "I am so sorry! I should have said something"
I look from the offending hand up the arm and to the persons face, it was him, the man with the wonderful hair, "I just wanted to say thank you for sticking up for me, you didn't have to" He grins a crooked smile, showing his equally crooked teeth.
"It was no problem, she had no right to be so rude" he lets go of my arm and it falls back to my side.
"Well still, it was incredibly kind" He tucks his hands into his back pockets, "Well, I was, um, I was wondering if you would let me get you some food?"
"There's no need for that Mr... Uh" I frown at him
"You can just call me Caleb" He runs a hand through his hair, showing his pale roots, "And I insist, as a thank you"
