A/N: Hello! Welcome to my new fic! This time it's the incredibly smart Senku! I hope you enjoy being a meteorologist and helping him predict the weather!

"-Made up my mind!" The lab room of the school was filled with focused students, working hard on their own little projects that a teacher would later evaluate. Well, some of them. There were others that wanted to just experiment, have fun. Y/N, a girl who also studied at this school, could understand it. She had spent a lot of time in this room with her own class, studying how the weather worked with a fun display of chemicals and elements. The once in a lifetime chance to study meteorology within the school just so happened to appear when she had decided her career goal, to study the science of the Earth and weather. It couldn't have been any more perfect. It was mostly just reading charts and learning how to analyse rare phenomenons, like unusually wide tornadoes or lightning over erupting volcanoes, but making small tornado simulations with Senku in her free time was always especially fun.
"I am going to confess the feelings I've had for Yuzuriha for the past five years." Taiju declared, his newfound confidence shocking the entire room, y/n included. At first she was going to come in here and show off her proud achievement, being the only one in her class to receive one hundred percent in her test of general meteorology. This though, was way more important. She looked at her friend with a happy grin.
"Good luck Taiju!" As usual, Senku's eyes never left his project, that was until he heard y/n's voice. Barely noticeable, he paused his movements for half a second, glancing back at the door for exactly long enough to know why she appeared. Inwardly he smiled to himself, knowing she had passed the test. Just like he said she would. He continued his project, acting as if y/n didn't command his attention whenever she entered the same room as him. With a smirk, he teased his best friend, and of course, it worked. Though, he wasn't as easily tricked when it came to Senku's supposed 'love potion.'
With a final repeat to himself, Taiju stepped towards the exit. He paused when he noticed y/n, staring at her for a brief second before awkwardly laugh, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked to her apologetically. "Y/N, if you're not busy, could you come with me? I think I will need someone to hype me up."
"Oh, uh...Sure!" She could show off her test results to Senku later, she guessed. Keeping a tight hold of the paper, she laughed as she listened to her friend's repeated gratitude as they headed to the courtyard and tree that their friend liked to relax at. Together they joked and laughed as they moved outside, trying to ease the anxiety.
"Hold on a second..." Y/N spoke suddenly, stepping off as she caught something odd out of the corner of her eye.
"What is it?" Taiju questioned, the tone of their conversation changing. Laughter left him when he realised what had distracted the aspiring meteorologist. "Oh, we got tricked by that too! There's a bunch of stone statues of birds around."
"Are you sure it's only a statue? It looks so detailed..." Y/N frowned, not convinced by the male's explanation. She held the bird carefully, freaked out by how alive it looked. A moment later she looked to the sky, feeling silly at the concept that it could offer any answers. Was there a type of weather phenomenon that would turn living organisms into stone? She didn't believe so. It must just be a statue...
"We're pretty sure, whoever is making them is super talented though right?" Taiju chuckled, admiring the bird statue as y/n carefully placed it down in a safe spot where it wouldn't get hurt. It was a little sparrow, a cute idea for a statue, she agreed.
"Yeah, I guess." Y/N agreed, turning to face their destination. "Hey, there she is! Hurry, go confess!" Y/N whispered, although they were in plain sight. It was lucky that Yuzuriha had her eyes closed for the moment.
"Oh, okay. Alright. Breathe. You'll still be here, right?" Taiju spoke, hyping himself up. Hoping for y/n's support, he became confused when she suddenly disappeared. "Y/N?" A second later he figured it out. It was only right he did this, completing his goal in private.
Above, from inside the building, Senku stood watching the interaction from the window. He smirked, fully expecting things to not happen the way his best friend had wanted. Taking a sip from the can in his hand, he smiled as he watched the altercation.
"I'd ask if you wanted to place bets, but I guess there's no point in that, right?" Y/N laughed awkwardly, Senku somehow not noticing that she had snuck up on him. He turned, looking at her with wide eyes, before relaxing his features again.
"You're right. It would be pointless." He chuckled, taking another sip of his drink. "I see you past your test, full marks. Congratulations, I told you you would pass." He spoke, smug as he watched her features lighten up in joy.
"Thank you, Senku!" She gleamed. "It would never have been as easy if you didn't help me revise." Giggled the girl, closing her eyes as she did. Senku, although expecting that response, found himself flustered. It was getting harder to hide his emotions, so he looked out the window so y/n wouldn't see. School was too important to be worrying about relationships, at least for him anyway...
Silently he watched the two friends outside talk, wondering what exactly Taiju was saying. Y/N joined him, watching for a moment too before closing her eyes. A moment later they flashed open, a blindingly bright green hue casting over the sky. Curious, both stared in wonder, trying to figure out what it could be.
"Y/-"
Everything happened so fast. They looked down, seeing the threat for only half a second as it hurt the people they cared about, and were not able to move fast enough to somehow manage to protect each other. The closest they got, was holding hands as they reached out, before they were completely turned to stone.
