The Legacy (Book One)

Chapter One

On a snowy winter night and in the middle of nowhere and among dead trees, two five year old girls stood aimlessly in the snow, the two children were looking down at their gloves hands. "It's cold...Pure white snow...What is pure white? What is snow? It is that which is not red. Something that is red...is what?"

Suddenly a tall vampire walked up to the young children, "Are you two lost?" This caused the two to look up at him, both with blank stares on their face, "This is..." "Can I suck your blood?" "Beasts that suck human blood, who take on human forms. N-no! That is..." The vampire grabbed the terrified girls and both tried to escape, but one fell in the snow while the other tried to defend her. Suddenly out of nowhere the two were saved by another vampire, this caused blood to fly everywhere on his body. "You're a disgrace vampires!" The young man licked the blood off of his hand then turned to look at the children "...a vampire. You must not get close to vampire." The young man offered a hand to both of the children as they watched as ashes blew in the wind causing one to look in the air, she watched as the second girl took his hand and was helped onto her feet. "If you get close...Those eyes...will enslave you." The man offered his other hand to her but she stood up on her own and wondered how could the other girl take his hand when he had just killed someone before them. He looked at her confused as to why she hadn't taken his hand but she shook her head and turned the other way and ran away from the two.

The young man and girl watched as she ran away, the young man pulled the young girl closer to him as the wind blew widely and the snow fell harder onto them. The other young girl ran in the snow until she couldn't run anymore and collapsed into the snow only to by two twin boys. One boy carried her on his back as they both ran back to their home where their parents were shocked to see the girl and for the next few days took care of her while she was in her unconscious state. When the young girl awoke it was into a strange house and to a woman with long dark blonde hair tied in a low ponytail, standing by the door was a man who had short silver hair. After realizing that she had no memories and had nowhere to go, the parents of the two boys who had saved her adopted her and she lived with them and became a part of their family. Ten years at Cross Academy was attended by two groups of students: The Day Class (humans) and the Night Class (vampires). At twilight, when the students of the Day Class are supposed to return to their dorm, they cross path with the Night Class on their way to school. A young girl who was petite and slender with shoulder-length chestnut brown hair that had a red/dark brown hue colour and big brown eyes that were fringed with red. She was wearing the trademark black uniform of the Day Class with a white armband carrying the mark of a red rose, signifying her position as a member of the Disciplinary Committee. She also wears ankle brown boots.

Yuki was trying to get the Day Class to return to their dorms but they were not listening to her and once again she was too late as the Night Class students had already arrived. The girls of the Day Class all eagerly admired the handsome guys of the Night Class walking past, and fanatically flocked around a number of them making Yuki fall to the ground as Hanabusa "shoots" at the girls who surrounded him. Kaname instead called out to Yuki who turned to see him with an outstretched hand toward her, this made her remember the time Kaname had saved her. "Are you all right?" Kaname smiled kindly at Yuki while she scratched her head, "I-It's nothing..." She then felt the deadly aura behind her from the rest of the Day Class girls making her try to explain, as Kaname got up from his kneeling position whilst talking to Yuki, "No need to get so formal. I wish you'd relax." At this Kaname walked over to Yuki as she stood up and patted her head but eventually he was holding her cheek, suddenly Zero appeared and snatched Kaname's hand from Yuki, preventing him from touching her. Kaname looked to him and looked behind Zero and where stood Aoi, the second girl that Kaname had tried to save that day but she had run away in fear.
