Sitting down in English I look over to Tobias who was already sitting down reading. In my world of crazy, he seemed surprisingly to be the only normal thing I have... I still couldn't believe it was only Wednesday.

"Hey" I say and he looks up, his focus finally pulled away from his book.

Putting a book mark in carefully and closing it he turns to me. "Hey."

"New book" I pull my newest book I was reading out of my school satchel and set it on his side of our shared desk.

"Screams of the light" he reads the cover. "I haven't read it yet, but from what I hear it's great."

"I got it for a buy two get one free deal." I explain as I put the book back in my bag. "There was a murder mystery sale at the mall a few weeks ago. Got a few great finds."

I turned back to my book to read when he asked, "what are your plans for today?"

I shrugged, "nothing much, most likely hang out with friends and homework."

He opened his mouth to ask something but was cut off when the teacher stood up to speak.

"In the next few weeks we will be working on a new project for the book we just read in class. In a document that I sent you all is a list of requirements for your project. Your partner will be your table partner. If you have any other questions you may come up to me to ask or email me. Otherwise you may begin."

As soon as she was done talking the room erupted with quiet chatter about the next assignment.

I turned to Tobias, "looks like we are partners."

He nods grabbing his laptop and turned it on and went to his email.

"Looks like we will need to write an essay and have a presentation made on the book." He explains to me as he reads his email.

"If I start on an essay about the book would you work on the presentation?" I ask.

"Thank goodness, for a second I thought I'd have to write the essay" Tobias says jokingly.

"What should be our main point?" I ask him.

He sits and thinks for a minute, "I belive that if the main character hadn't just kept going against her instinct she would have figured out the killer soon and ended the book before page one."

"And the fact that the killer was leaving clues all along" I agree. "Got it. I'll get started as soon as possible with the rough draft."

For the rest of the class period we talked both the project until the bell rang. Seth stood outside of the classroom door when I got outside with a frown on his face. Which I couldn't tell if that was his usual frown or his angry frown.

"What's up?" I ask him.

"Football coach wants his top kids to do a special competition to him decide team captain" Seth says.

"And?" I ask confused what he's upset about.

"It's after school, which means I can't pick you up after riding lessons" he says.

"How about I just hang with a group of friends so that I'm not alone, and text you every once in a while to help your nerves" I suggest.

"There are many flaws in your plan" he says glancing at me.

"Got a better one?" I ask.

He sighs, "I guess not."
