Jake stared worriedly at his friend as he thought of anyone who would want to harm him. "Could it have been a sasaeng fan? They can take it to extreme levels just to see their idol. I mean you have no enemies. And if it was a fan of yours or a crazy person, we need to amp up your protection. As far as I know no one knows that you are here except for me and your manager". Jake knew that the safety of his friend was important.
Heeseung shook his head lost in thought. "No, I don't think it was a crazy fan. It was as if this person knew me personally. It's someone I had never met before. But I can't recall who they were. Obviously they had ulterior motive to harm me. At the time, I was already running from fans who had recognized me. But not too long after that the man attacked me unprovoked. He had hit me from behind that I recall. His tone wasn't polite, so he intended to hurt me". Heeseung tried explaining what had all went down.
Jake sat down at the foot of the bed heaving a sigh. "If it isn't someone you met, then who could it have been? I mean you get along with everyone and don't act out. You don't set fights and have scandals. At least for now you are protected in the hospital. He can't reach you here if he tried. I will get the police and see if they can look up security footage from that intersection. I mean that might give us a clue as to who did this. It's a start anyway". Jake responded.
Heeseung wanted to find out who did this. "Listen, I will let you get some sleep while I make some calls. Call if you need something". With that Jake left the room leaving Heeseung to his thoughts. Heeseung sighs leaning back and closing his eyes. He tried recalling the events prior to the incident, but found nothing that would have made him a target.
"Why me? And who are you?" Heeseung whispers before drifting into a fitful sleep.
. . .
Yumi stares up at the looming building in front of her. Her heart was racing like crazy which baffled her. It was only the first day that their contracts began. It wasn't like anything was going to happen to them. Right? I mean they were just acquaintances, nothing more, nothing less. Yumi takes a deep breath before making her way inside. She grabs her card and swipes it as the gates let her in. Yumi runs for the elevator as it was about to close. "Wait, hold the door". She shouts catching the man's attention. He sticks his arm out allowing the doors to reopen. Yumi thanks the man as she steps inside the crowded elevator.
She watches as the numbers climb up to the floor that she needs to be on. As she gets out Yumi makes her way towards the office. The floor was eerily quiet which baffled her. Usually this place was filled with chaos. Between singers and actors, this place was always loud. But today it was eerily calm. Yumi walks down the long corridor, her high heels clicking as she walks.
Yumi takes a deep breath before she knocks on the door. To be honest she was nervous to see Heeseung again. Their last meeting had her thinking back to when they had dated. This time Yumi knew that they could never date again. But deep down her feelings still resided in her heart. She locked her feelings away, but they still threatened to seep out.
"Come in". Yumi heard taking her out of her thoughts. As she opens the glass door Yumi is met with Heeseung's manager. Yumi glances around not seeing Heeseung. The manager looks up baffled as to see Yumi.
"What are you doing here Ms. Moon?" He glances at the time noticing that she is on time. "I am here for our contract rules and the meeting with Heeseung". She stated. At first she thought she got the day wrong, but no today was indeed the start of their contract.
Yumi takes notice of Heeseung's absence. Heeseung's manager sighs before closing his work book. "Did anybody bother to tell you that the meeting was postponed until further notice?" He asks even more baffled. Yumi shook her head. "No, I wasn't informed that the meeting had been postponed. May I ask why?" She asks now more intrigued.
Mr. Park stands up and walks towards Yumi."Seriously, no one told you?" He raises his brow at her. Yumi suddenly felt nervous. "Tell me what?" Now Yumi was growing concerned. Did Heeseung back out last minute? No, he wouldn't do that. Even if we had history, Heeseung wouldn't back out. Right? She thought to herself.
"Last night Heeseung was sent to the hospital. He is being hospitalized for observation. But will otherwise make a full recovery. Your meeting with Heeseung is postponed until he is healed. He can't be seen in public injured while on fake dates. We will inform you when your first date will be. Sorry for the miscommunication, but I assure you it won't happen again". Mr. Park clarifies.
Yumi stumbles backwards her heart racing. Did she hear correctly. "W-What do you mean hospitalized? Is Heeseung okay?" Yumi asks clearly worried.
"Heeseung only suffered minor injuries and should make a full recovery. The details of his accident is being hidden under wraps. So the media has no idea. We except you not to tell anyone". He warns. Yumi nods. "What hospital is he staying at? And I won't leak out any information". Yumi would do anything to protect Heeseung.
Yumi quickly catches a cab and hops in. She worried about Heeseung as well as flashbacks from when he was in the hospital a few years ago. Yumi never wanted to see him in a hospital bed ever again. "Sir, can you please hurry". She demands the driver.
Yumi didn't know what to expect or what condition Heeseung might be in. All she knew was that she had to see him for herself and make sure that he was okay. Yumi didn't want to lose Heeseung again. Yumi unbuckles her seatbelt and races out of the car. She didn't bother with turning her phone down. All that mattered to her was Heeseung. She ran for the front desk and waited impatiently for her turn.
"I am here to see Lee Heeseung". She informed. The lady nods typing on her computer. "He is on the fourth floor room 208".
Yumi runs towards the elevator hoping that no one from his family was there. Last time she saw his parents it wasn't a pretty moment. Yumi types in the floor number waiting for the lift to move. She shook the negative thoughts out of her mind and walked out of the elevator.
She watched as the numbers on the wall got closer to his room. Her heart raced erratically in her chest as all these thoughts crossed her mind. Yumi didn't know what to expect. But she hoped that Heeseung was okay.
Yumi stood in front of Heeseung's room, feeling nervous. She didn't know what condition he was in or what his injuries were. But she hoped that Heeseung would recover soon. Yumi takes a deep breath before opening the door.
As she stepped inside Heeseung was sound asleep. He looked so peaceful that she didn't want to disturb him. The curtains were half closed but the sun, hitting him, Yumi could see a faint bruise on his cheek. Worry and concern crossed her mind as she wonders what had happened.
Yumi was about to take a seat when the door slid open. She froze and slowly turned around. There standing in front of her was Jake. Only Jake was giving her a dirty look as anger crossed his face. Yumi bit her lip feeling anxious. They weren't on good terms ever since the accident a few years ago. Yumi was about to open her mouth but was cut off.
"What are you doing here Yumi?" Jake asks approaching her.

FanfictionIt's all just a publicity stunt. Both Heeseung and Yumi know this. And they are both good actors. Perhaps a little too believable by the public. Or is it fake after all? And perhaps it's fates way of trying to bring them together.
