Chapter 2/ The Date

Today was the last show Flutter Shy was doing while on tour.
Photo Finish had hired three new recruits for the next tour, but they weren't all attractive to Flutter Shy. Twilight Sparkle and Trixie Lulamoon were Together and the other new recruit, Pinkie Pie, was single.

Finally, the music started and Apple Jack marched onstage wearing a saddle, completed with reigns. She and Rainbow posed together for a picture a pony had been taking. When it was Flutter Shy's turn, she came on stage with her eyes frantically searching for Rarity, but she never found her. After the show, Flutter Shy ran across the halls trying to avoid paparazzi so she could look for her friend. Flutter Shy finally spotted Rarity running around looking for herself. Rarity found a group of ponies with their camera's flashing around a pony. She ran to the group to see if Flutter Shy was there, but it was just the new pony, Trixie.

Finally, she gave up and walked to a cab telling the pony she wanted to head back to her hotel. Flutter Shy flew out, searching for the same cab and the occasional flow of purple, curly hair. By the time Rarity reached her hotel, Flutter Shy could no longer walk in for the reason that somepony would call paparazzi and they would question the reason she was there. Flutter Shy spotted a mare on the sidewalk and approached her. "Hello? Can you do me a favor?" Flutter Shy asked. The mare perked up and quickly recognized the pony in front of her. "FLUTTER SHY?" The pony screamed. Flutter Shy placed a hoof on her mouth and told her what she needed, but the mare would only do it for a trade. Flutter Shy accepted the deal and took a picture with the pony. "Can you go in now?" Shy asked. The pony nodded and walked into the hotel as casually as possible. "Hi! Welcome to Manehattan Hotel! Can I help you?" The clerk asks. The favor mare cleared her throat and walked forward opening her mouth. "Can you tell me how long my sister Rarity will be staying in Manehattan and what room she's staying in? My mother wants her to come down to her house and discuss a few things." She lied.

The clerk pony nodded and pulled out a sheet with Rarity's name on it. "She'll be staying here for about two more weeks because she needs to pick up some materials for a dress she's making. And she's staying in room E7" The clerk pony informed, "Oh! Thank you so much! I'll be sure to call her later!"

The favor pony walked back to Flutter Shy and told her everything. Shy walked into the hotel and acted as if she were going to the ladies room, but she actually headed to the elevator and walked in front of room E7. Flutter Shy knocked three times and waited for Rarity to answer, but she didn't. Again, Flutter shy repeated what she had done before and got an answer that time.

At first, Rarity didn't recognize Flutter Shy and asked who she was, but Shy refused to answer. She walked into the room uninvited and sat on Rarity's bed. "It's me. The pony from the alley." Flutter Shy explained. Rarity perked up and ran to Flutter Shy, hugging her. "I looked for you back at the show, but I simply just couldn't find you!" Rarity explained. Flutter Shy smiled weakly and looked around the room. It looked very luxurious and roomy.

"How rude of me," Rarity started, "Let me order a drink for two,"

Flutter Shy looked up at Rarity and cocked her head in confusion. "Like, a date?" Flutter Shy asked. Rarity dropped the phone and turned to Flutter Shy, smiling. "Yes, like a date."

Flutter Shy smiled outside, but inside, she was quietly celebrating. "So, I hear you design clothes?" Flutter Shy asked, "Yes, I do!" Rarity responded. Flutter Shy gave a warm smile and a light chuckle.

The room service came with two glasses of wine and a vine of grapes. Rarity lifted the glass and placed it on Flutter Shy's hooves. "Cheers!" Rarity said. Flutter Shy drank her wine and placed the glass on the tray while wiping he mouth. "Rarity?" Flutter Shy asked. Rarity looked up at her, putting the glass down and giving Flutter Shy her full attention. "I-I really like you Rarity." Flutter Shy confessed. "And not as a friend."

Rarity stared at Flutter Shy in shock at the words that filled her ears. "You do?" Rarity asked. Flutter Shy began whimpering and she stood up and walked to the door, but Rarity stopped her. Rarity gazed into Flutter Shy's deep, Teal eyes, and without thinking, Rarity pressed her lips against Flutter Shy's. Pulling back, Flutter Shy chuckled. "So I guess this makes you my mare friend?"
