A Beautiful Mistake

Chapter 1

"Addie! Get up! It's time for school" my mom called. I groaned at the thought of leaving my warm bed. It was April so it was still a little cold outside. I threw the covers off and onto the floor. I walked over to my closet to grab the outfit I picked out the day prior. It was a light pink floral top with pale blue ripped jeans. I got dressed and headed to my mirror. I put on a little bit of makeup trying to keep a natural look and let my blonde waves stay as is. Another day of high school here I come.

At school I sat with my friends Katie and Grace. Katie has been my best friend for as long as I can remember and Grace has been my friend since freshman year. We had Honors English first period together. The class was fun because Mrs. Swanson always joked around with the immature Junior class.

"Alright everyone take a seat!" Mrs. Swanson ordered. Everyone scattered to there seats.

"Okay since you guys did excellent on your 'The Great Gatsby' quiz y'all can talk amongst yourselves and watch the movie." I love Leonardo DiCaprio but I knew that since I was with my best friends that I wouldn't be watching much of the movie.

"Okay so April Vacation is in a few days. We're still on board about getting the hotel room, right?" Grace asked even though we've been talking about it all week and we've already paid for it.

"Grace, of course we're going to go. That's all we've been talking about all week." Katie pointed out. Grace always overthinks things so she ends up asking stupid questions like that but you gotta love her.

"Okay..so we're leaving Friday night and staying all week and it's Thursday and I still haven't packed yet." I have to start packing soon or I'm going to be rushing around last minute and knowing me, I'd probably forget something.

"Yeah, I'm so excited and I heard that Cody Stearns was gonna be there with all his friends. He's so hot." Katie whispered with drool almost coming out of her mouth.

"Really? He's gonna be there? Omg! I really don't care." I never understood what the fuss was about. Yeah he's good looking but he's kind of a douche but Katie was into those kinds of guys. I think it's because she likes the drama.

"Meow! Who pissed in your Cheerios this morning?" Katie asked rhetorically.

"I just don't understand what the big deal is. He's a jerk." It always confused me. He sleeps with girls all the time, drinks, smokes, and never follows the rules.

"Let's just change the subject, okay?...Did anyone do the extra credit essay because I know I didn't." Grace never does anything more than what she has to do but no one really does.

" No one does extra credit. Are you kidding? What's the point? All you get are a couple of extra points on your final grade." Katie has a point but I have big plans for the future that I don't want mess up so any extra points on my final grade I'll take.

"Actually, I did the extra credit and I should probably pass it in." I admitted. I'm glad I did it and it was easy anyway.

"Of course you did because you're a Goody-Two-Shoes." Katie joked. I didn't think it was funny. People have called me a Goody-Two-Shoes pretty much my whole life and I hated it.

I walked up to the teacher dodging the projection so my shadow doesn't block the movie.

"I did the extra credit." I said while handing the essay to her.

"Excellent! Ya know you're the only one that did it. See I try to help students boost there grades up but they don't take advantage of the opportunities and then I get emails from parents. They just don't appreciate what I do for them. I just don't get it." Mrs. Swanson blabbed on and on about it. If there's one thing about Mrs. Swanson, it's she really knows how to talk someone ear off.

"Yeah I know haha" I walked away feeling awkward. I just wanted to hand my paper in, not get a whole speech about unappreciative students.

I sat back in my seat. I made a list of everything I had to pack. I'm so excited! This is gonna be great.

As soon as I got home pulled out my list of stuff I needed. We're staying for 10 days and I'm gonna need to pack a lot of stuff. I just need to get through one more day of school then we're off.
