Ellie
As I ran across the field , my sneakers pounding against the asphalt in cadence with the determined heartbeats, I was dripping sweat from my forehead. The adrenaline made my green eyes shine like marbles, sharp in concentration. To everyone, the final year of high school should be a celebration, but to me, another battlefield. Be it sports or school projects, I never did anything halfway.
My brown hair swung at every step, pulled back in a practical ponytail as befitting of my dark emblem of an unyielding spirit—one that did not let anything or anyone get in the way, much less a brother who had promised at birth to make my life miserable. His latest rant about my basketball talent was still ringing in my ears. If he was to believed, I'd never play anything but high school ball, much less win a scholarship.

His denigrating remarks about my ambitions stung more than I liked to admit about everything I tried to do.

The shouting and gasping cheer of the audience became hushed in distance, with my eyes purely set on the basket ahead. I took a swap breath and surged myself with determination, jumping high in the air and releasing the ball with a flic of my hand. The ball seemed to sail in the air, then-swish!!! I JUST FUCKING SCORED THE FINAL BASKET OF THE GAME. The whole gym erupted, pouring with applause and cheers. My teammates were screaming and ran toward me. We did it! We had just won this fucking game ! My girls embrace me in a group hug.
But then, I saw his smirk across the field. There he was , my nemesis. Noah fucking Anderson...
