The next morning, Haseena tried to shake off the confusion from the night before. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the breakfast table. She was busy preparing breakfast, her hands moving mechanically as her mind raced with thoughts of the previous night.

Anubhav walked into the kitchen with his usual calm demeanor, as though nothing extraordinary had transpired. He greeted Haseena with a cheerful smile and greets her which felt like a stark contrast to the intensity of their last interaction.

“ Suprabhat, Haseena ji,” Anubhav said, settling at the breakfast table. He reached for the newspaper, flipping through it to know the current affairs as his daily routine casually as if their late-night conversation had been nothing more than a fleeting moment of jest.

Haseena, still feeling a bit flustered, responded with a forced smile, “Good morning, Anubhav. " And continue to arrange the breakfast on the table along with Anubhav's help.

As he helped himself to the food, he began chatting, randomly over the topics—office matters, the weather, and upcoming plans. It was as if the previous night’s banter and Haseena’s confessions were nothing but a figment of her imagination. He talked about his upcoming work schedule and asked her about her plans for the day, engaging in normal conversation.

Haseena tried to match his tone, though her heart wasn’t fully in it. She served the breakfast, attempting to hide her discomfort behind a mask of composure. Anubhav’s casual attitude was both a relief and a source of confusion for her. Did he genuinely forget about their intimate moment, or was he simply choosing to act as if it never happened?

As they ate, Anubhav’s laughter filled the room, and Haseena found herself responding with a few forced chuckles. Despite her efforts to maintain normalcy, her mind was still caught in the web of last night’s emotions.

' Yeh kya tha ? Kya Anubhav ne sach mein humari fantasies ko normally le liya hain ? Ya woh bas aise isiliye behave kar rahe hain, taake hum zyada soch na paye ? Shayad unka yeh normal attitude humare liye ek naya signal hai... Ya phir woh sach mein itna relax hain, jitna dikhate hain ? Inhe samajhna humare bas ki baat hi nahi hain, aajtak kaha samajh paaye hain hum inhe ... '

As breakfast concluded, Anubhav excused himself to prepare for the day, leaving Haseena alone at the table. She stared at her empty plate, lost in thought. The contrast between his casual demeanor and her inner turmoil only deepened the uncertainty she felt.

' Shayad aaj ke din mein kuch clarity mil jaye, sab kuch clear ho jaye. Par tab tak, yeh normalcy hi sahi hai .... '

Determined to not let her emotions interfere with her daily routine, Haseena resolved to focus on her work and handle whatever the day would bring with a clear mind.

- MPT, Lucknow -

Haseena was completing her desk work, well tried while her mind drifting back to the night with Anubhav. The conversation, or rather the playful banter they shared, was a pleasant yet nerve-wracking surprise. She never imagined that admitting her silly fantasies could lead to such an intimate moment. But now, sitting alone, she couldn't shake off the awkwardness that had crept in since then.

' Itna kyun soch rahe hain hum us baare mein. Unko toh kuch farak pada nahi ... ', she thinks as irritation starts to crawl her always calm demeanor making her cranky. She just dropped the pen and went near the window, and asked badnaam for the tea.

While sipping tea, Haseena pressed the corner of her temple which started to ache with lots of thoughts as it just couldn't stop over thinking right now.

- Haseena's inner turmoil -

' Yeh kya ho raha hai hume ? Har waqt, har jagah bas wahi lamha yaad aata rehta hai. Kitna ajeeb lag raha hain ab, kal humne apni fantasy ko unke saamne rakh diye besharmo ki tarah. Aur unhone toh jaise mazaak mein le liya hain, itna normal behave kar rahe hain. Kya vo humare liye kar rahe hain taaki hume awkward naa lage ya fir voh sach mein samajhte hain? Ya vo sirf humara mazaak uda rahe the ? '

' Lekin unke woh alfaaz... Woh mazaak kar rahe the ya kuch aur tha uss andaaz mein ? Shayad woh bhi... Nahi, nahi. Yeh sirf humari ghalatfehmi hogi. Anubhav toh waise bhi bahut samajhdar hain. Shayad yeh bas unka tareeka tha hume hasne ka. Lekin... agar yeh sab mazaak hi tha, toh phir yeh jazbaat kyun ? '

She remembered how Anubhav lifts her from her waist, settling her on the slab just to know what she was hiding, which makes her slight blush as her mind rants again.

' Kal jab Anubhav ne hume pakda tha, unki aankhon mein kuch tha... Woh kuch kehna chaah rahe the, ya hum hi zyada soch rahe hain ? Shayad woh bhi us lamhe ko mehsoos kar rahe the, jaise humne kiya tha. Shayad... Shayad hum dono hi kuch kehna chahte hain par keh nahi paate. '

' Magar unka aaj ka unka har gesture hume confuse kar raha hai. Kya yeh sab sach mein hai ya bas yeh humara hi dil hai jo kuch zyada hi umeed laga raha hai ? ', Haseena sighed, trying to focus on her work but failing miserably.

Her heart was conflicted, torn between the possibility of a budding relationship and the fear of misunderstanding their interactions. She shuffled through the files on her desk, attempting to distract herself, but her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and feelings she couldn’t quite control.

As she sat back, her gaze fell on the window, the city bustling with life outside. The sounds of honking cars and distant chatter served as a backdrop to her thoughts. She closed her eyes, letting herself get lost in the noise, hoping it would drown out her overthinking mind. But instead, she found herself spiraling further into the depths of her emotions.

' Anubhav aur hum ... Kya sach mein humare beech kuch ho sakta hai ? Ya phir yeh sirf ek kahani ban kar reh jayega, jise hum sirf apne dil mein hi ghoomte rahenge ? Woh kitne arse baad aaye hain aur ab toh unka jaana bhi kitna mushkil lagta hai. Shayad yeh sab waqt ke saath saath theek ho jaaye. Shayad ... yeh faasla darmiyaan hum khud hi bana rahe hain apni sochon se ! '

---

She felt her phone vibrate on the desk, pulling her out of her reverie. It was a message from Anubhav, a simple reminder of their meeting later that day. Her heart fluttered at the sight of his name, a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling up inside her.

' Aaj toh DCP ka routine visit hain is hafte ka ! Insab mein hum yeh bhi bhool gaye. Vo phir milenge, samne aayenge, aur hum... Hum kaise unka samna kare ? Kal raat ka mazak ya sach ... Humara sar fat jayenga ! '

Determined to find some clarity, Haseena took a deep breath and got back to her work. She knew that sooner or later, she would have to confront her feelings, face whatever it was that lingered between them, and decide on the next step. But for now, she needed to focus, to gather her thoughts and strength for the meeting ahead.
