Me, my girlfriend, and my dog lived in a pretty small house. I worked a lot to save up to move into a bigger house. When I finally had enough money, I looked into finding a house for sale. "Hey, this house looks nice," I said, showing my girlfriend, who was sitting beside me, a picture of a house
The house looked a bit old, but bigger than the house we currently live in. "Uhm, sure. But it looks a bit old,  don't you think?" She pointed out. I shrugged. "I guess, but it's the cheapest one I could find that looks decent."

My girlfriend reluctantly agreed. When it was finally the day to move, we managed to pack all of our essentials.

We moved into our new house, walking in. My dog, Rosemarie, was hesitant getting in. She had her ears tucked back. I gently pushed her inside, then waited for my girlfriend to grab the last bag. She walked din and I followed behind her. "Okay..it's pretty late. Let's set up our sleeping bags until our bed arrives," I said. My girlfriend agreed. Rosemarie was hiding behind my legs. She was quivering. I petted her and made sure she was okay before laying in the sleeping bag. "Goodnight," my girlfriend said, turning off the lights.

The silence was loud. My dog's breathing was the only thing that kept it from being completely silent. I couldn't fall asleep, I felt paranoid. I sat up, trying not to wake my dog or my girlfriend. I slowly got up, walking into the kitchen. There was a window above the sink, which I looked out of. All I could see were trees, grass, and bushes. It's not very exciting. Although it was a bit eerie, the distance seemingly only pitch black. I sighed, crossing my arms.

Before I walked away, I noticed something move in the distance. I stared into the darkness, hoping to find whatever it was. I guess my mind was playing tricks on me. I shrugged and went back to my sleeping bag, trying to go to sleep. Eventually, I did, but it wasn't exactly the best sleep I have had.

The next morning, my girlfriend and I put in most of our furniture into the house. "Alright -" I said, stretching my arms, "I'll go clean out our room to put the bed in."
My girlfriend nodded as I walked away. I went into our room with a broom and started to clean out the dust.

I noticed something hanging from the ceiling. A small string. I tugged it, and it looked like it was used for an attic. I pulled on it harder, and it opened up the ladder leading to an attic. I paused, looking at it. I began to climb up the ladder and into the attic. It seemed like the past owners were hoarders. Boxes on top of boxes and shelves filled with knick knacks. I stepped onto the floor of the attic, looking around. I could smell the very slightest scent of something rotting. I guessed it was a rodent. I opened one of the boxes to reveal a bunch of notes in a small book.
