"Oh," Mr. Roger cried bitterly. One of the policemen angrily hit Mr. Roger on the head with a plank and yelled, "Will you speak up, you criminal!" Mr. Roger remained silent, lost in memories of working for his boss, Chief Daniels. Chief Daniels was a politician who extorted people of their hard-earned money, using street boys for his dirty operations. Outwardly, he appeared as gentle as a dove, but inside, he was a wild demon.

"You don't want to talk, huh? You'll soon see my other side," said the other policeman. But Mr. Roger deliberately ignored him, his mind telling him that he had nothing left to live for. The room fell silent, the only sound the ticking of a clock on the wall.

The officer paced back and forth, growing more frustrated with each passing second. "Do you think this is a game? Your silence won't protect you forever."

Mr. Roger's mind drifted to the past, to the countless faces of the people they had scammed. He remembered the desperate eyes, the pleas for mercy, and the guilt that now consumed him. But he couldn't bring himself to speak. The weight of his actions was too much to bear.

The policeman slammed his fist on the table. "You're just wasting our time, Roger. We already know about Chief Daniels and your involvement. Confess, and maybe you'll get a lighter sentence."

Roger's eyes remained fixed on the floor, tears welling up but refusing to fall. In his silence, there was a confession of its own-a silent admission of guilt, regret, and the realization that he was too deep in to ever find his way out.

As the interrogation continued with no progress, the officers exchanged frustrated glances. They knew breaking Roger would take more than threats and intimidation. But for now, his silence was all they had.
