"Safe travels po, Doc.!"
Ngiti ko habang kuamakain nang chocolate cake. This weekend na kase aalis si Doc. Ian sa U.S. kaya nag decide 'yung ward namin na bigyan siya nang farewell party.
"Salamat!" He replied with a smile. Fave ko talag itong si Doc., kase sa lahat nang nakilala kong Doctor, siya iyung pinaka- mabait. "Siya nga pala, 'yung papalit sa akin ay si Doc. Villegas, pupunta sana siya ngayon dito para ma-introduce ko siya ngayon kaso may emergency raw." He added. Tumango ako at nagpaalam muna kay Doc. bago ako lumapit kay Brie.
"Brie, kilala mo ba 'yung papalit kay Doc.?"
Tumango siya at kumuha muna nang coke bago tuluyang lumapit sa akin.
"Si ano? Si Doc. Villegas diba?"
I nodded.
"Kaka-grad lang 'nun last year. Anak nang Mayor sa kanila at gwapo daw pero ewan 'ko hindi ko pa 'yun nakikita in person."
"Ano pa?" Tanong ko. "Mabait ba?"
"Hindi ko alam nga, 'di ko 'yun kilala." She rolled her eyes at me. Ano ba 'yan. sana mabait 'yan si Doc. Villegas sa'min.
I hate it when people are not kind you know...madami na kase akong pinagdaanan na Doctor na sobrang suplado. Nakakainis.
Pagkatapos nang farewell party namin kay Doc. Ian umuwi muna ako sa condo kase bukas pa naman 'yung next shift ko. Naligo muna ako bago nagbihis at natulog.
Nagising ako sa alarm ko. With my body still half asleep I managed to stand up and make myself coffee before putting on my white scrubs. Even though I was extremely sleepy I still had to do my job well especially that it included other peoples lives. Sa field na ito you must put others—patients—before yourself even if it costs you your well-being. I tied my hair in a neat bun before heading out sa hospital. I didn't bother to fix my face dahil wala namang ibang makakita sa'kin besides kay Doc. Villegas at ang mga pasyente namin. Araw-araw naman akong mukhang zombie doon sa hospital. Mas mukha pa akong pasyente!
Nakakapagod. Life at the hospital as a nurse....is so toxic. The environment, the schedule,basically everything! But pinili ko 'to. If it weren't for my sister who has been battling Brain Tumor I would've chosen to be on a totally different field. Gusto ko sana mag abroad na, kaso sobrang dami pamg requirements kaya dito muna ako.
When I arrived at the Nurse's Station, I fixed some papers first. Since, I was really tired hindi ko namalayan na nakatulog ulit ako.
"Miss?"
My brows furrowed when someone was nudging my arm. Ano ba?! 'Di ba nila nakikitang natutulog 'yung tao?
"Miss," sabi pa nang boses. It was a deep voice and medjo husky pa. Multo ba 'toh?
"5 minutes," I said, still asleep. I ducked my head more towards my crossed arms laid on the table. Please, just 5 minutes more, I really need to sleep.
It went silent and wala nang aabala sa'kin kaya nakatulog talaga muli ako, but only for the shortest period of time dahil after a few seconds someone was nudging my arm.
"Miss, it has already been more than 5 minutes."
"Ugh, fine!" I said, annoyed, but my eyes immediately widened when I realized that the guy who was waking me up was— I'm guessing—Dr. Villegas! Nakakahiya! Siya talaga 'yan dahil walang ibang Doctor na assigned ngayon dito!
Agad akong tumayo at dumuko. "Sorry po, Doc." Shit! Why naman!? At sa baging Doctor pa talaga! I wanna burry myself alive! Ang unprofessional ko naman! Na overtake nang tulog 'yung buong pagkatao ko kaya nakayanan 'ko pang mag 5 minutes!
