Hi. My name is Samantha Williams. I'm just an average 16 year old trying to get through high school without getting killed or worse. I'm currently in the 10th grade and I've managed to make it so far without being noticed and that's how I like it. Except, not everything goes according to plan. Should have figured with my luck. I met a girl named Tiffany and she was determined to be my friend no matter how many times I pushed her away. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're friends. She's someone I can talk to. But sometimes it's bad for someone like me to have an out-going friend like Tiffany. Good example; she dragged me to this party on Saturday. She kept going on about how fun it would be and how she would be by my side the whole time. Guess where she is? I'll give you a hint, not with me! She left a while ago to "Get a drink." Now I'm left alone sitting on this couch in the house of a classmate I've never talked to. I know why she did it, she wants me to make new friends. But I'll show her just how stubborn I can be! I won't be noticed by anyone and I won't approach anyone. I'm fine! I'm wearing a gray hoodie with jeans and sneakers so no one will complement my clothes. And I wear glasses. I have short brown hair and brown green eyes, so I don't really stick out. I'll be fine as long as I just sit here and look down at my lap. Then again even the best laid plans can fail. I feel the couch move a little as someone sits next to me.
Don't freak out Sam, this guy is just sitting down. He doesn't even know you're here and even if he did he would ignore you. That's what I keep telling myself, but again life decided to prove me wrong.
"Hi."
I know that voice. I look up nervously and almost have a heart attack when I see who it is. Zack. He is the most popular guy in the entire school. He's been out with almost every girl, though none of the relationships last long. Honestly, I don't know why a girl would want to date him in the first place. He has black hair and blue eyes and while some girls would like his smile, personally, I find it a little irritating. He's wearing a basic short sleeved black shirt with jeans.
"H-hi". It's all I can manage.Part of me starts freaking out that maybe he wasn't talking to me and that I just made a fool of myself. But my fears... disappear? No I'm definitely even more scared now, when he continues talking.
"You're Samantha, right?" He asks.
"Y-yeah. " I stutter again.
At this point my mind is racing. How does he know me?! Why is he talking to me?! He must be here to pick on me right? I can't think of any other reason why he would want to talk to me.
"We share some classes at school." he says, still holding that smile.
I can't hold eye contact anymore and look down at my lap. I knew we shared some classes, but I never thought he would notice. Oh no, I've been quiet for too long. Say something! But before I can, he speaks up.
"We haven't really gotten to talk yet. Actually I was kinda surprised to see you here. You're so quiet I figured you wouldn't like crowded areas."
I'm surprised. Maybe he just wants to talk to someone and figured that he might as well talk to the person sitting alone at the party. Wait, what am I saying? Popular kids never think about other people. I shouldn't let my guard down.Meanwhile in the kitchen, a certain girl with long blond hair and green eyes wearing a pink skirt, with a white shirt was standing in the kitchen hoping that her best friend would socialize with other people. Tiffany walked over to the punch bowl and poured herself a drink. She gave the cup a suspicious look and after smelling, it twitched her nose at it and put the cup on the counter
"Is it spiked?"
Tiffany jumped and turned around. When she saw who it was she smiled. He was a kid with brown hair, brown eyes and he was wearing a plain white shirt with a black hoodie and jeans.
"Oh Jack, it's just you. You here to help John with the party?" She asked in a cheery way.
" Yeah, basically. " He responded with a shrug.
"Well, that's the class mom for you, always doing his best to look out for everyone."
"Class mom?" He asked. But then he put up his hand and said, "Never mind, I don't want to know."
Tiffany just laughed. Jack turned and picked up the punch bowl and started to dump the contents down the sink.
"Well, I'm actually here for a very special reason." Tiffany said while putting her hand over her chest.
"What's that?" Jack asked looking up after emptying the bowl and getting out some new punch to put in it.
"I actually brought Sam to this party to try and be a little more social. I think you and she share some classes actually. She's the quiet girl with the brown hair kinda cut like a boy's."
"I know of her. I've never talked to her before." Jack says after thinking for a second.
"Yeah, well I brought her here to try and help her make friends. I mean I'm literally her only friend and I think she could make a lot more if she really tried. But I knew she would just latch on to me so I let her loose into the water to see if she would swim."
"I don't think that will work. She'll probably just stay in a corner somewhere and not do anything."
Tiffany let out a sigh of defeat and responded with a "Yeah, you're probably right." Her expression changed all of a sudden to a happy one and she snapped her fingers.
"Hey, I know. Why don't you try to hang out with her? The three of us could have lunch together. I'm sure you'll like her, she's really nice and a good friend. "
"I don't see why not." Jack shrugged.
"I better see how she's doing." Tiffany looked out of the kitchen and into the living room and was shocked at what she saw. Zack, the new kid this year, who quickly became the most famous guy in the school was sitting next to Sam and talking to her. Tiffany quickly turned around to Jack and exclaimed " You won't believe it! "
"What?" Jack asked.
" Zack is talking to her. "
"The Zack? Why?"
"I don't know. It's really confusing."
