"If you're gonna save the word, I'm the best person to keep you from messing up"
That night, as I lay in my unusually comfortable king-sized bed and stared at the ceiling, lost in thought, the questions wouldn't leave me. They buzzed through my head like flies whose only reason for being was to annoy the crap out of me and keep me from sleeping.
I didn't have enough time. One wrong step could have fatal consequences for the entire universe. This game that both parties were playing with me was hard to see through, even for me as an experienced player. I had to get verifiably, true information as quickly as possible. But how was I supposed to do that without getting caught?
The situation was different from what I was used to. At S.H.I.E.L.D. I had always had someone who had my back and I knew at least part of the truth - or so I always thought. The betrayal was a completely different issue that had no place here and now.
What mattered now was to figure out how I could get out of here alive without plunging the worlds into eternal damnation. That would be impossible if I didn't follow Loki's orders- at least for the time being - and continued to act as his lapdog. I had no choice but to fulfill this role until I was back on earth.
Slow but steady, sleep caught up with me, drowning my thoughts and carrying me into the forbidden depths of my subconscious.

I will spare you the details for the next two days. Loki kept me more than busy with training and a few short history lessons.
Luckily, I managed not to hurt anyone except the target - and a few surrounding trees - and after the second day, I was able to avoid collateral damage altogether.
Between all the training and the need for sleep that came with it, I hardly found any opportunity to get to other sources. Jill helped me as best she could, but her hands were as full as mine.
So on the third day, I stood before the king, still without a plan.
"I'm sorry to have to tell you that your time is even shorter than expected," he welcomed me, seeming almost absurdly calm. Anxiety overcame me. Something big must have occurred for him to react like that. My home... "What happened?"
"Thor has attacked your organization's base and is trying to get back Mjolnir. If you don't act quickly, it is very possible that he will succeed and turn your planet to ashes," Loki explained. He seemed uneasy as if it was affecting him personally.
"I'll try to find him. If I succeed... Should I kill him?" Loki was quiet for a moment. "I'm afraid it's the only way to eliminate the danger he poses," he replied, to which I nodded silently and waited for him to continue, "When the task is completed, you, as the heroine of the nine worlds, are free to move on as you please. However, there would certainly be a reward awaiting you here in Asgard..." It sounded so tempting, that I was almost certain it was a trap. It was basically impossible for me to form an opinion about this man. Especially when I had to constantly remind myself that every word out of his mouth could be a lie. I would rack my brains over that if I survived.
"Thank you, I will do what needs to be done," I simply replied and turned away from him after he nodded at me one last time and muttered something along the lines of "Good luck." I had never thought much of luck.
Luck was a little traitor who was only there when it suited him and let you down when you really needed him. I preferred to rely on my abilities.
I still had too many problems! A hell of a lot.
First: I still had no idea what to believe.
Second: I therefore had little plan of what I was dealing with.
Third: I had only moderate control over my powers and had never really used them in direct combat.
Fourth: I hadn't eaten breakfast - that should have been the first thing.
Fifth: All of these points were stressing me out, which didn't exactly help me find even the hint of a solution to any of them.
I breathed consciously. 4 in, 8 hold, 7 out. There was a way. There always was. I just had to find it.

Mere minutes later I hit the ground, feet first. I didn't feel any pain, which confused me a little, but I wasn't going to complain about that. I quickly looked around and tried to get an overview of my situation. I was about a hundred meters from the S.H.I.E.L.D. research station and fairly certain that someone had noticed the huge rainbow bridge that had brought me here.
I still hid behind a large rock uphill from the camp and observed the conditions. With much surprise and luck - still a lousy traitor - I noticed that they were packing up. Parts were being dismantled and stashed everywhere. But why? Had they found the answers they were looking for? Highly unlikely. Why then? Suddenly it hit me:
The hammer was gone.
So Thor had succeeded. That meant that I was not their top priority and that most of the agents who specialized in action had probably already been withdrawn and were looking for him.
Something in which I was planning to join them. I bit my lip, thinking. Finding a god with lightning who wanted to destroy the world shouldn't be too difficult, but how was I supposed to get out of here without S.H.I.E.L.D. noticing me? After considering it for a moment, I decided to avoid S.H.I.E.L.D..
I could just as efficiently cooperate, but first off, it would be less fun and secondly, I couldn't be sure that they wouldn't lock me up again, stubborn babybrains. Without wasting any more time, I made my way downward. However, my plans were canceled early when I felt the barrel of a gun poking in my back.
