"Annemarie!"

"Mama, not her."

"It's the only way."
"Mama-" "Do it!"

A man laid hunched over at her feet. He could barely turn his head. A smile flashed across his face.
"Go fetch."

Her hands hovered over the woman.
"Ah'm sorry..."
"Annemarie... "
"Ah'm sorry, Mama!"

In the end, Annemarie didn't have the guts to kill Jean Grey. Instead, she used her powers on Mystique, just enough to render her unconscious. Tears streamed down her face, as Jean Grey wrapped her arms around her.

Mystique was arrested along with the rest of her team. Charles Xavier made arrangements for Annemarie to attend his institute for the, as he calls it, "extraordinary."

-
"It's quite alright, Annemarie. You couldn't help it. You didn't know any better."Ah'm really sorry about Wolverine -" "Oh, don't you worry about Logan. He will come around, whether he likes it or not." He winked at her, forcing a smile. "Now if it's not too much trouble, I'd like you to meet the Doctor."

As they made their way to the elevator, she noticed that the quaint home started to look more and more like a hospital. The elevator doors opened, and she followed the professor into the med-bay.

"Hank, come down from there, we have a visitor for you."
As she wandered around the room, a blue creature jumped down in front of her. "Hello." She jumped, startled by him. "Hank, this is the Rouge." "My apologies, I didn't mean to frighten you. I know my appearance can be a bit jarring, to say the least."

The Rogue smiled, embarrassed. "Yer fine, Blue doesn't bother me." He smiled at her, and then stuck out his hand. "I'm Dr. Hank McCoy." Annemarie took a step back, keeping her hand to her chest. "Uhm." "Oh right, of course!" He climbed a ladder to the top of a shelf, and grabbed a box with his hand, and a clipboard with his foot.

"This is for you, Annemarie. It's a rubber compound that will temporarily paralyze your Mutant abilities."

She opened the box. "They're kitchen gloves..."

"Yes", he admitted. "They're kitchen gloves."
Annemarie looked around the med bay from her seat on the operating table. Hank was elsewhere going through his doctors bag. "Now we're just doing standard inspection, but Xavier will need to be here for the mental evaluation.

"Rogue, you can take your jacket off." "Mah' jacket?" "Yes, the blood pressure cuff won't read with it on."
He wrapped the cuff around her arm and squeezed the inflator.

"Hmm." "Somethin' wrong?" "Well you're blood pressure is unusually high. Tell me Rogue, does high blood pressure run in your family? " "Ah don't know", She admitted. She never really thought about that before. "It could very well be stress from moving in, I'll keep an eye on it." He grabbed a syringe, flicking it a few times. "Um, Hank that's a real large needle you got there."

"We need a blood sample, it'll only hurt a second. " " Don't you think you're playin' a dangerous game?" He looked up at her through his glasses.
"That wouldn't happen to be a threat, would it?" "Course not, Ah'm just afraid that you might make contact." "Nimble fingers, my dear. I'll be alright." Rogue tried not to move as he drew her blood. She squeezed her fists, trying not to hit Hank.

"Alright, Alright. The worst part is over."
He gave her a bandage, and patted her on her hand. A way of saying she did good. He then took the sample, running a scan on it. "It'll be a few minutes" he said.

Rogue kicked her feet, waiting for him to release her. She thought he was funny. Someone so 'beast' was so distinguished and gentle. He was more human than most men she'd known. She watched him bumble around his office, humming a catchy tune.

"Dum- dum dum-dum
dumn dumdumn da da da"

"That's a nice diddy."

He turned to her and his expression softened. "It's one of my favorites, actually. 'Music Of The Night', It's called."

A light turned on, pulling him from the conversation. "Alright Annemarie, samples all accounted for. Scott should be able to show you around tomorrow. Relax for today, see if we can't bring that blood pressure down."
