(Lafayette pov)
'Goodness high school is stupid,' I thought to myself as I walked down the hallways of my college. It was the first day. I had been given many different opinions on high school. My friend John told me it was absolutely fucking stupid and I should just skip smoke weed with him. My friend Alexander on the other hand said it was fun and I should graduate. Honestly I dont know.
I sighed. My first class was English. Of course. I'm okay at it. It's not my favorite. I mostly speak French because I'm from France. I was taught how to speak English, though, so im pretty fluent. I put my hand on the door handle and took a deep breath.
I opened the door. Everyone was laughing and talking. I assumed we had assigned seats. I looked at my teacher and back at the students.
I was about to talk before I got interrupted as I opened my mouth.
"Ah! You must be Marquis!"
My teacher spoke in a disgustingly happy tone. I smiled akwardly.
"Bonjour...well, I guess hello. Also please call me Lafayette..." I said, slightly annoyed. I hated being called that name. All my friends called my Lafayette. Well, mostly Laf. John has this stupid name for me where he calls me "Laffy." It weirds me out, but I allow it. It's just a name, right?I looked back at my teacher. "Hm... Lafayette it is. You may take a seat next to Hercules,"
He said, pointing at a particularly muscular boy in the back. I looked over to where he was pointing. He had to be my age. He was slightly taller than me, his eyes were pretty- what? Come on, Laf, you can't do this. I nodded my head.I walked over to the desk where this supposed "Hercules" was sitting. I gave a polite smile. I put my bag down and sat down next to him. I rested my elbow on the table and waited for class to start. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too bad. I thought about it. It was the first day.
"We better not play some dumb icebreaker game..."
I mumbled to myself, not intending for anyone else to hear but me. I heard a voice speak next to me with a chuckle. I looked over."I heard kids say that he's the kind of teacher to force us to play those games."
This Hercules guy said with a laugh. I looked at him and gave a face.
"Seriously??" I said. I gave a slight eyeroll. We were in high school, for goodness sake.
"Yeah." He said. He then paused. He spoke again. "What's your name?"
He asked, smiling. His smile was oddly pretty. I got lost in his eyes for a second. I realized I was literally asked a question, so I snapped out of it.
"Oh, uh...my name is pretty long, but everyone calls me Lafayette."
I said with a shrug. I spoke again. "Your name is Hercules, right?" I asked with a smile. I could easily grow fond of this guy. He seemed nice to be around.
"Yeah. Hercules." He said with a smile. "It's nice to meet you, Laf...Laf...can I call you that?" He said with almost an awkward chuckle, obviously slipping on his words a bit. I also laughed, the awkwardness fluent between both of us.
"Yeah- yeah, you can call me that." I smiled. Was I blushing? Yeah. Probably. Why, though? This guy was handsome, but I literally just met him five seconds ago. Hercules spoke again.
"Great. I'll call you that then." *He smiled and turned his attention off me and put it on the teacher.I kinda wish he gave me all his attention for some reason. It was absolutely wack, but honestly, who cares? I rested my head down on the dest in front of me and waited for class to end.
