The next day, Wei Wuxian met up with the other guest disciples. Since they had become friends, everyone called each other brothers. As they walked to their classroom, they discussed each other's respective sects and their rules and regulations. Wei Wuxian and the young master of the Nie sect, Nie Huaisang, were the main contributors to the conversation, while the others chimed in with a sentence or two.

Wei Wuxian listened as Jiang Cheng talked about their daily routines and the fun they would have at the Jiang sect. Suddenly, Nie Huaisang exclaimed, "Next year, I am going to Yunmeng to study! No one can stop me!"

Someone else immediately countered, "Nobody would hold you back. Instead, your big brother would just break your legs."

Nie Huaisang's face dropped instantly. Seeing his saddened expression, Wei Wuxian tried to cheer him up, "To be honest, Gusu is quite fun as well."

Nie Huaisang spoke, "Wei Xiong, listen to sincere a advice of mine. The cloud recesses is nothing like Lotus pier. Here in Gusu, remember that there is one person whom you shouldn't provoke."

"Lan Qiren?" Wei Wuxian asked.

Nie Huaisang replied waving his hand, "Not that old man. The one you need to be careful of is his proudest disciple, Lan Zhan."

Wei Wuxian spoke, "The Lan Zhan from the two jades of Lan? Lan Wangji?"

Lan Wangji and his brother Lan Xichen were given the title two jades of Lan because of their exemplary skills. So, it's only natural that Wei Wuxian recognized their names. Nie Huaisang spoke, "What other Lan Zhan is there? That's him. Oh gosh, he is the same age as us but he has none of the energy of a teen. He is so stiff and strict. Even worse than his uncle."

Hearing that, Wei Wuxian thought of the disciple he fought last night. The description suited perfectly and he quickly placed the two and two together while nodding his head slowly lost in thought. A small smile involuntarily appeared on his face as he asked, "Is he the lad who looks quite pretty?"

Jiang Cheng sneered, "Is there anyone who looks ugly in the Lan sect? If you can, find me one person who has an average face here."

At his remarks, Wei Wuxian felt his question was a bit stupid and emphasized, "Very pretty. White from top to bottom, wearing a forehead ribbon, and carrying a silver sword on his back. He looked quite handsome, but with his straight face, he looked like he was mourning."

After a pause, Nie Huaisang spoke, "That's him! But he had been doing secluded meditation for the past few days. You just came yesterday. When did you see him?"

"Yesterday night." Wei Wuxian replied casually with a shrug and folded his hands in front of his chest.

Jiang Cheng was stunned for a moment, "Yesterday night? Isn't there a curfew at night? Where did you see him? Why don't I know about this?" He asked.

"There." Wei Wuxian said as he pointed at the top of the high wall.

Jiang Cheng asked, "We just came and you already caused trouble?"

Wei Wuxian explained what happened the previous night to everyone as they listened to him curiously and asked a question here and there.

"Then he asked me to read the rules on the discipline wall. Honestly, there were over three thousand rules. Who would read all that? Did you read it? Anyways, I didn't." He said. Everyone agreed to his words and complained about how absurd each rule was. Among the rules that they mentioned, one particular rule caught Wei Wuxian's attention. "What? Fighting without permission is prohibited?"

Jiang Cheng stopped walking and looked straight into Wei Wuxian's eyes, "Don't tell me you fought with him!"

The whole group also came to a stop abruptly. Wei Wuxian smiled at him sheepishly and spoke while maintaining eye contact, "I did. And we broke a jar of the emperor's smile." Everyone sighed at his response.
