Just a small story dedicated to our one and only emoduck.
I own nothing but the story idea.

Reader's POV

I still think back to that day when Sasuke left. I missed that duckbutt but it was his choice and I wasn't going to be a pain and interfere. Tsunade made near impossible for poor Naruto. The blonde just wanted to search for his friend but with the way things were he probably is going to be on lock down because of his persistence. So after the two years he used to train with Jiraya, I was tasked to find Sasuke. I had asked why I was being sent when there were better choices like Sakura, the girl could pick up duckbutt's sent from a mile away.Though I felt the choice to be a bit stupid I went along and did as I was told. Naturally none of this was told to Naruto who would have a bitch fit cause he knew couldn't come with. When I stepped out of those village gates I knew I wouldn't be seeing it for a long time, I wondered if that's how Sasuke felt when he left. When he left his friends and sensei. When he left me.I was his best friend. Always there by his side, helping and doing all that I could for him. We were always on par with each other but our rivalry made the friendship all the more enjoyable. But as the years went by I soon grew feelings for that jackass, naturally I kept it to myself as I didn't want to be seen as one of his annoying fangirls. So to this day I still haven't told him how I felt, but I feel it's better this way. Had I voiced out my feelings then the day he left would make it all the more painful.I continued on my journey making random stops while searching for Sasuke. There were days I would think back to the days we would just sit and talk till the sun went down. I looked around and saw a cherry blossom tree near a lake. It reminded me of the day Sasuke and I became friends.

Flashback

A small boy sat down under a cherry blossom tree. Large tears rolled down his face as he looked at the lake in front of him. His older brother had gone on another mission leaving the poor boy all alone with no one to keep him company. Sure he had his mother and father but that wasn't quite enough for a boy his age."Hey there. You okay?" asked a comforting voice. He looked up to see a young girl grinning down at him. He quickly wiped away his tears and stared up at her curiously. He nodded slowly to answer her question. The girl giggled and held out a hand for him to take. "Name's (y/n). What's yours?" she questioned again. The boy smiled and shook her hand. "It's Sasuke." he replied. (Y/n) grinned down at him and had asked him if he wanted to play. Sasuke eagerly nodded. They spent the whole day playing to their hearts content, enjoying the others company. They were best friends from that day onwards.

Flashback end

I smiled as I took a seat under the cherry blossom tree. The area was secluded so I could be left at peace and just let my mind wander. I let memory after memory infiltrate my mind, a few bringing tears to my eyes but I blinked them away. I chuckled at the memory of when we tried to see what was under Kakashi-sensei's mask, the torture we went through. I smiled at the memory of when Naruto and Sasuke climbed up those trees using chakra only. I chuckled remembering the memory of the accidental kiss between those two knuckleheads. My flashbacks were cut short when I heard footsteps approaching me. I stiffed slightly as the person came closer, allowing me to take in their scent, a oh so familiar scent. I shuddered as he stopped in front of me. I didn't bother looking up, he knew I acknowledged his presence. I heard a bit of shuffling and I glanced warily at him as he sat down in front me. We didn't say anything. We just stared at each other, though I was beginning to feel uncomfortable.

"Sasuke."

"(Y/n)."

I glanced at him before sighing and leaning back against the rough bark of the tree. I managed a small smile but it disappeared as soon as it appeared. He had changed, a lot. He moved to sit down next to me, and we just sat there staring at the lake in front, the sunset glittering of the surface. To some this would be the most romantic thing  ever but right now it was plain awkward. I didn't know what else to say right now. There were so many questions swirling around in my head, the main one being how the hell did he find me?! I thought I was the one looking for him!!"Hey idiot stop staring." he huffed. I hadn't realised that I was staring at him. I flushed bright red and quickly turned my head the other way. How embarrassing... I thought in humiliation. I watched him from the corner of my eye as he sighed. Thinking about it now, why hasn't he killed me yet? He was a rouge ninja so he wasn't exactly in the good books at the moment. So why was he just sitting next to me like it was the most natural thing in the world. My questions were answered when I felt him grab my hand."(Y/n) I know it's a bit too late for this but I want to let you know that I... I love you..." he whispered. I barely heard him but I managed to hear those three special words. I frowned though I was happy. I loved him back but there was the  fact that he was a rouge ninja. Both of us will be wanted criminals, and I couldn't possibly hold him down with me being there. I am an excellent ninja but I hate the idea of dragging someone down.
"Sasuke I love you too but I don't want to drag you down, I don't want to be the cause of your downfall." I reluctantly said. His eyes narrowed at my statement. He knew I was scared about the outcomes. He took my hand again, this time using his other hand to tilt my head to face him. I felt him brush his lips against mine. It was a light innocent peck, nothing overbearing and lustrous. When he pulled away he gave me a small smile. I couldn't help but smile back. That kiss washed away my worries and insecurities. "(Y/n) I want you to come with me." he stated.

I couldn't say no even though I knew it was a bad idea.
