Chapter 16

Glimmer Belcourt POV

We are all at a fossil museum, and it's so boring. Johanna looks like she's about to fall asleep. Finnick and Annie keep looking at each other and try not to burst into laughter. Clove and Cato are fighting and also kissing at the same time, and the teacher hasn't caught them yet. I have been resting my head on Marvel's shoulder because this is so boring, and I feel like I'm going to fall asleep, too. Katniss and Peeta are laughing about something quietly so the teacher can't hear. Gale is just staring into space. Johanna points to the door, and we all know what she means. She wants to ditch. We all slip out of the door and run across the street. We run until Gale sticks his arms out and trips me and Annie. Finnick and Marvel look at us and start yelling at Gale. "What the heck, Gale!" Finnick yells. "Why would you do that! That looked like it was on purpose." Marvel says, helping me up. Finnick helps Annie up and asks her if she's ok. "Are you ok, Glim?" Marvel asks. "Yeah, but my knee hurts a little." I say. Marvel tells me to get on his back, and I do.  "Guys, stop being mean to Gale." Johanna says. "Aww." We all say except Johanna and Gale. "Gohanna?" Finnick asks. "No, it should be Jale." Katniss says. "Jale!" All of us chant except Johanna and Gale, who are glaring at us. We run the rest of the way to Finnick's house because that was the closest house to the museum. When we get in, Finnick's mom looks at us and just laughs. "I'll tell your parents I picked you guys up from school so they don't get mad." She says, grabbing her phone.

Annie Cresta POV

I love Finnick's mom. She's so laid back and chill. Finnick's mom's phone rings. It's the school. "Hello. Yes, it's Mrs. Odair. Oh well, I just picked them up. Yes. Ok, have a nice day. Bye." She says. "The school just called cause they thought you guys ditched. I covered for you guys." She says. "Come on guys, let's got to my room." Finnick says. I sit next to Finnick on his bed, Johanna and Gale sit in two bean bags in the corner, Glimmer, Marvel, Cato and Clove sit on the floor and Katniss and Peeta share a chair in the other corner. "That was the best!" I say, laying my head on Finnick's leg. "Yeah!" Clove says. "Your mom is the best." Peeta says,   grabbing Katniss' hand. "We are going to get some ice cream with some friends." Cato says. "Ok bye." Finnick says. Cato, Clove, Glimmer, and Marvel leave. They are all best friends and meet with some friends from where Marvel used to live that are also friends with Cato, Clove, and Glimmer. "Me and Jo had planned to go to the Arcade today." Gale says, getting up with Johanna. "Have fun on your date." I yell. "Bye, losers!" Johanna says, laughing. "So, do you guys have any plans." I ask. "No." Katniss says. "Well, you guys wanna go to the beach." Finnick asks. "We don't have swimsuits, but we can go get them." Peeta says. "I think I..." I say, but Finnick interrupts. "Yeah, you left a swimsuit here from one of the many times we have gone to the beach." He says and goes to find it. He finds one of my swimsuits and hands it to me. "Here. You can change in the bathroom." He says. I change and put my clothes over my swimsuit. I walk out, and Katniss and Peeta are gone. "Where'd they go?" I say, sitting next to sitting crossed legged next to Finnick. He turns to me. "They went to change, and they are going to meet us at the beach." He says. "Ok." I say. "Turn around Ann." He says. "Why?" I ask. "It's a surprise!" He says. I turn around, and he's starts messing with my hair. I wait for about five minutes, and he walks me to the bathroom. "Look in the mirror." He says. I gasp. "Where did you learn to braid hair!" I gasp. "Finley and Ameylia taught me during their sleepover a few days ago. They wanted me to braid their hair." He says. "Thanks, Finn! You are gonna need to do this more often now that I know you can do it." She says. "Come on! Let's go!" He says. We walk to the beach and meet Katniss and Peeta there. We have lots of fun, and then Finnick and I go back to his house.
