"What would you do, if the world you knew ceased to exist overnight?"
"In a world overrun by the undead, what separates the living from the monsters?"
"What price are you willing to pay to stay alive, when humanity itself is at stake?"
Those are questions, I never thought I'd have to ask myself one day.
I never imagined that our once peaceful lives would be consumed by such horror and dread.
The world we knew, filled with the comforts of routine and normalcy, has been shattered, replaced by a landscape of fear and uncertainty.
The quiet mornings and predictable days have given way to nights haunted by the unknown and days filled with a constant, gnawing dread.
It's hard to believe that everything we took for granted could change so completely, leaving us struggling to survive in a reality we barely recognize.
But who would have thought - the day would come when we would have to fight for our lives every time we ventured outside?
It's unimaginable that our peaceful existence could devolve into a constant battle for survival, where even a simple act like wandering through once-familiar streets could become a perilous endeavor.
The idea of defending ourselves against dangers lurking around every corner was something we never could have predicted.
A few hour's Earlier..
"Liv, hurry up! Christ, we're going to be late," Kai exclaimed, his voice tinged with impatience as he hovered near my locker.
I fumbled with the combination lock, my hands moving clumsily in my rush. As I finally yanked the door open, I grabbed my math textbook and binder, shoving them into my backpack with hasty movements.
The hallway was thinning out as other students hurried to their classes, the warning bell already having rung.
"I know, I know," I said, finally managing to slam my locker shut and throw my backpack over my shoulder.
"Stop rushing me, you and I both know I'm a lost cause at math anyway. Why should I even bother showing up to class?"
Kai shot me an incredulous look. "Seriously, Liv? It's just math. We'll get through it. Come on!"
I sighed and followed him down the hall, the thought of the upcoming lesson making me drag my feet.
Math was always a struggle for me, and the idea of sitting through another torturous hour made me wish for anything but the classroom waiting at the end of the hallway.
We entered the classroom, and sure enough, Ms. Wetherbee was waiting for us, her expression a mix of frustration and exasperation. Her sharp gaze locked onto us as we walked in, and she didn't waste a second.
"Late again, Olivia, Kai?" she scolded, her voice echoing off the classroom walls.
"This is the third time this week! I expect better from you two."
I winced, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks. Kai muttered an apology, and I mumbled one too, both of us trying to shrink into our seats as Ms. Wetherbee continued her tirade.
As she launched into a lecture about the importance of punctuality, I could barely focus, my mind already dreading the endless equations and formulas that awaited.
