Waking up with an empty space next to me and the bed now cold, I couldn't help but question everything. I slowly get out of bed to head to the bathroom until I hear some slight ruckus coming from the living room. Tip toeing that way in Kate's clothes, my phone starts ringing. Caroline. My original best friend that has been MIA for the past week. "Caroline, oh my God!" I keep walking that way. I'm welcomed with the girls eating breakfast at the table and Kate standing by the stove. "Yeah, yeah. I know. How are you?" She asks excited on the other side of the phone. Kate hears my voice and turns around to lean against the counter. I head her way to hug her. Jada and the rest all look up from their plates, "So. Good." I finally respond to Caroline. I head over to my friends on the other side of the table and hug each and every one of them extra tight whilst still on the phone. I grab a plate made by Kate and head back to her comforting bed. "So, update me. What's so good about Iowa?" I sigh. "Boy, do I have a lot to tell you." I get myself settled. "Well, me and Kate kissed." I hear a hard smack over the phone. "Caroline?" I ask in concern. She doesn't speak for a few seconds, "sorry I just threw my phone."

"I fucking love you." I say, chuckling.

Finishing up my breakfast damn near lunch time, a light knock echoes through the room. "Come in," I say quietly. "Didn't know I had to knock to get into my own room." Kate says playfully before settling herself next to me, propped on her forearm. I laugh at her remark. "Sorry," I say, playing with the left over egg on my plate, "I'm kidding," I look at her, "what's mine is yours." I grin as I begin to blush. I break the tension, "How's my face?" I ask her as I graze my finger tips across the sore side of my cheek and eye. "Perfect," I groan, "as always." Kate grabs my hand away from my face. "I'm being serious. Is it bad?" She shakes her head no. Before grabbing her phone and taking a picture of the slight bruise and showing it to me. The bruise had now moved to my temple and my cheek was swollen. I did not look perfect. "Kate, that looks horrible." I say being snatching her phone and deleting the picture. "Whatever." She rolls her eyes before kissing where my bruise is now spreading. We just sit there and lean onto each others shoulders. Embracing the time we have together. Our warmth radiationing. Her hand is now intertwined with mine, rubbing my hand with the pad of her thumb. I begin to fall into a train of thought; the thought of being with Kate, especially considering I'm definitely not with Adam. She's always been there for me. Since the first day I met her, she offered me a ride, she invited me out with the team, she's been nothing but a pure soul. It means a lot to
me, coming from a family who was thankfully present in my life, but not fully. I helped raise my little brother, my parents were always at work. There would be nights I wouldn't get an I love you, or a good night. She never fails to
impress me with her big heart. She has nothing but love to give. I'd be willing to give all my love to her.

"Have you talked to Adam?" She asks me, looking down at me with her blue eyes. "What do you think?" She sighs. "I take that as no?" I nod into her shoulder. "How do I even approach a conversation like that? Hey, just so you know, you fucking hit me and I'm cheating on you." I feel Kate's chest go up and down as she giggles. "Kate, I'm serious. I'm literally cheating on him."

"I know, I know. I can't act like I feel guilty either." She says. "I say you just end it. He's treated you horribly. It was all a honeymoon phase." I play with her fingers as I begin to get anxious at the thought of even looking him in the eye. "Yeah, it's just so complicated. I'm going to see him around, its inevitable. What if he turns it against me?"

"Nope, nope. I'll be there, don't worry. I won't let that happen. Because you didn't do shit."

"Kate. Your not going. I didn't even say it was gonna be in person." I stand my ground.

"He won't be able to hear your pain through a text message." She has a point, "Plus, you kissed me because I treated you better than a grown ass man did." She laughs at herself, and I hit her arm. "No?" She asks with a big cheesy smile on her face.

"Just go put my plate away." I shove her off the bed as we laugh.

"Yes ma'am." She exclaims, exiting her room.

Picking up my clothes from last night and gathering all the items that fell out of my purse, Jada comes in and sits in the black suede chair in the corner of the room. "Hey, Mace. How are you?" She asks me. I shrug, "How good do you think? I got slapped by my boyfriend last night." I chuckle. She just smiles. "Well, duh. I can't even imagine. I'm so sorry girl." I sit on the edge of Kate's bed and start braiding my hair, struggling to get through the knots. "It's all good." I shrug it off. "No. No, it's not." She says with a very serious and demanding tone. "I have to get through it anyways. It was just something written in my book I'm forced to fight through." She nods, I can tell she's thinking of what to say. "All I'm saying, we're all here for you. Me, Gabbie, Caitlin," she pauses, "Kate." She says with a smile on her face. I begin to blush, immediately taking note as what she's saying. "We all love you, more than Adam ever could." She flips her hair before handing me a hair tie. I mumble thanks before tying the band around my hair extra tight. Jada hugs me from behind and smooths out my flyaways. "Your still so beautiful. It gives you an edge to your vibe." She and I giggle. She grabs my shoulders and swiftly turns me to face her. "Now, how's Kate?" I roll my eyes, mentally preparing myself to dump out all my feelings.

"I don't know, but I just really like how she makes me feel so comfortable all of the time." I finish explaining, slouching in the chair Jada was once in. "No yeah, I totally agree. She's always been like that. But I will have to say, there's no doubt that she doesn't feel the exact same way." I start to feel my cheeks go red as I blush once again. I can't help but smile at the words that just left Jadas mouth. "Really?" I ask. "Oh yeah," she says, rolling her eyes, her expression said it all. "So, I say you dump that douche bag of boyfriend," using quotation fingers on boyfriend, "and go get with Kate mother fucking money Martin." She shrugs before slamming the palms of her hands on the comforter. "I don't know, maybe it's all too soon." I grab my braid and twirl it around my fingers, "Girl. What do you mean? You have all the right in the world? He was barely your man?"

I roll my eyes, "You don't get it! I don't want to rush anything."

"Kate will understand. She would go at any pace for you." I grin. I confidently nod before walking to Jada and suffocating her with a bear hug. "I love you so much."

"I love you, but Kate loves you so much more." She doesn't see it, but my face is bright red.
