"Woo...Woo..."

The whistle blew long and the mist rolled.

After running for three days, the steam train finally arrived at the Shanghai Railway Station in the evening when the setting sun was about to fall.

As soon as it stopped, the closed doors of the carriages opened in the hustle and bustle.

Wearing two big braids that reached her waist and looking a little disheveled, the rather dishevelled Ru Ting squeezed out of the train with a bag in her hand, following the surging flow of people.

The platform was crowded and not much more spacious than the carriage. She did not dare to stand there and cause trouble, and squeezed out with difficulty.

Only after leaving the crowd did she put down her bag, followed the example of the passengers around her, put her hands in her sleeves, sat on her bag, and stared at the passengers climbing onto the train from the window, her thoughts drifting away.

I can't figure it out!

Even though a day had passed, she still couldn't figure it out.

Why did everything change just after a night's sleep?

She was no longer the high school English teacher in 2023, but the newlywed runaway wife in 1967.

Well... Strictly speaking, she was still a runaway wife who ran away with the money.

Thinking about the story behind this, Ru Ting felt his head swelling and couldn't help but sigh again...

"Comrade? This female comrade? Are you okay? Do you need hot water?"

The crisp and refreshing female voice broke through the surrounding noise and reached Ruting's ears. She came back to her senses and looked up to see a gentle smiling face.

When she looked down and saw the large kettle in the other person's hand, she immediately ignored everything else and quickly responded: "Yes, yes."

While she was talking, she had already taken out a teacup from her bag and stood up to get the water, and said warmly: "Thank you, comrade."

It was only after personal experience that she realized that the trains of this era did not have enough water and it was even more difficult to use water, so every time they arrived at a station, there would be staff carrying kettles to distribute hot water.

Seeing that the female comrade was in good spirits, the staff did not ask much, poured water, left a sentence "serving the people", and then walked towards the next traveler who had already handed out a teacup.

Seeing this, Ru Ting sat back on her bag, holding the teacup in both hands and began to drink.

Ru Ting was afraid of cold, and the moment the warm water entered her throat, she couldn't help but squint comfortably, and even the fatigue in her body seemed to be relieved a little.

She actually wanted to take the opportunity to rest for a while, because her bones were aching from sitting on the hard seat for a few days.

But she knew that it was getting dark and she hadn't found a place to stay yet, so it was not the time to relax.

So after drinking the water, she picked up her bag and walked out.

In the late 1960s.

Shanghai already had the "Turtle Taxi", although it was only a three-wheeled electric one, it saved Ru Ting.

The starting fee was 20 cents, and it cost 70 cents when she arrived at the guesthouse closest to the train station.

In these hard times when every penny counts, most people would rather walk than take a taxi.
