It was a dark and stormy night- actually Ayla didn't really know what kind of night it was. You see life on the ark is weird- different if I must say so myself.  There is nothing but darkness, the sun doesn't rise and the moon doesn't set.  The stars and the galaxies consume you until there is nothing left other than your thoughts. Seeing what the world was down there, on earth that is, is all Ayla ever thought about.

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID"

She woke up to the sound of her parents arguing, as always. Petty arguments, welcome to the life of Ayla Karrera. Her eyes flutter open, slowly taking in her surroundings. She pulled out the pillow from under her head before shoving it in her own face and letting out a huge groan.

Once she was fully awake, the arguing didn't stop. She glanced at her clock and it was already 11pm. She decided to slip out of the house to meet up with Raven so they could visit their friends in the skybox.

Raven and Ayla have been friends since they were 10. Raven somehow managed to poke her way into the girls heart and they've been bestfriends ever since. Raven's boyfriend, Finn, was in the skybox and so was Ayla's brother (from another mother) James, so they always go to the skybox together every morning to visit them. Ayla had even made another friend on her daily visits.

Murphy. His cell was right right next to James's so the three of them quickly hit it off.

Ayla left her room to her parents in the kitchen talking in hushed voices. She was too in her head before while getting ready to head out that she didn't even realize the screaming stopped. She thought about listening in on their conversation but was too tired to strain her ears. Instead she quietly opened the door that lead outside to the halls of Alpha Station.

Ayla's dad was the chief of guard which came with some perks. She lived on the best station and had more rations than others. Obviously she was grateful but she couldn't help but think about how unfair it was. That is why she used to share her rations and clothes with Raven, so that she could help as much as she could.

she made her way to Mecha station to meet up with her friend. Walking through the halls, she ran her hands across the cold, grey walls of the ark. Zoning out, she became unaware of her surroundings and shifted her thoughts to what it would feel like on earth. She closed her eyes and let her head fill with questions. Is it daytime down there right now? What does the wind feel like? What do the stars look like down there?

She must've completely out of it because the she suddenly bumped into someone. Opening her eyes, she started to apologize to the person. She looked up only to realise it was Raven standing in front of her.

"Hey stranger" Raven greeted. "Why are you walking around with your eyes closed like a psychopath"

"I was not" Ayla replied with a fake gasp "You're just imagining stuff"
